For me, that just defeats the purpose of the Macbook.

It delegates all of its aesthetics. People think that they are personalizing their laptops. They think that by adding these silly stickers or buying these colorful case protectors that their being unique in some way.

News flash: It's not. It just devalues your Macbook. The Macbook's look is known for it's simplicity. It's only in the finer details that separate the Macbook from it's competition.

That's like your opinion man.

I will do with my belongings as I wish without an iota of regard for your thoughts

News flash: Troll.

If you aren't a troll then News flash: no-one cares what you think of what they do in that regard, nor what you think of their car/clothes/house/career choices.

I never put stickers on my computers but I've seen many people do it.... ugly. Also leaves sticky residue
just an opinion dont kill me

I like the MacBook Air advert that shows lots of different decals, some look quite cool.

That said, I'd never put stickers on an any of my devices, that's just me tho.

Each to their own!

My work colleague. Not a bad way to give your macbook an individual note.

I hear they are also known for their uses as an actual computer and not merely a decoration for your room...you can't see stickers on it when your using it so why does it even matter.

Some people place stickers by the palm rest as well.

I have a single sticker. It's a Macstache Burt.

It's simple enough that it doesn't detract too much, but different enough that I don't confuse my MacBook with my brother's, my sister-in-law's, and my other brother's.

I have two Macbooks:

My white Macbook has a Batman Dark Knight sticker where the apple light lights up a smaller batman logo.

My "new" macbook pro I will leave with no stickers or anything on it...

I have a Banksy decal on my Macbook. I noticed that shortly after I applied it my laptop was worth approximately $100 less.

Not against it, though I have never done it on any of my MBA's. I just got an MBP and, for some reason, I want to put a Star Wars themed silhouette-type black sticker on it. Maybe the rebel symbol. So, I guess I have no problem with it.

Technically I have a sticker on my rMBP, but given it's made with real wood and isn't like the typical traditional thick veneer and actually bends at the edges just a typical film sticker, it's more of a real wood wrap.

And for those that worry about sticky residue, it's as simple as using some rubbing alcohol to get rid of any glue that does migrate (which generally isn't an issue).

One of the best features is that the Apple logo glows through the wood. The fact that the wood adds a truly unique element (every piece is completely unique) to a product that inherently is meant to be the same, is another benefit and functionally, the wood makes it that much easier to hold and carry the laptop too.

even worse than a sticker I use thick duct tape to cover up my apple logo.

I love the computer but I don't love the fact that the backlight shines so brightly from behind in a dark room...a BTO option to have no cutout would be awesome! I also enjoy the idea of my computer no longer being a portable advertisement for the company :D

To each his own, I think there are a lot of really cool decals, and perhaps I'll get one.

Some people like to put stickers on their laptop. OP, why do you care what others do their laptop?

Some people like tattoos, others do not. Its a personal decision.

I don't care about the value or aesthetics of my computer. As long as it works, I'm good.

I've got a sticker on mine (this sticker in fact) and I'm perfectly happy with it. I don't care about the "simplicity" or "finer details" or whatever - it's my MacBook and I can do whatever I want with it.

P.S. Good vinyl decals don't leave any residue when removed.
