Love me some Waze :D

Might actually keep using it even over Navigon since you get free traffic reports, heads up about hidden cops trying to ticket, and recalculates you to save time automatically based on traffic reports.

So you like it because it helps you break the law?

I switched from the original HTC Incredible to the 4S. The only thing I miss is the back button and a real notification system. I dislike not knowing i have notifications until i randomly check. The LED the iPhone offers tries to be passed off as the same by some people but it really isn't.

And that sums up everything I miss. I love the iPhone. It's so much more polished. Everything just works. The phone itself is just beautiful, the apps i use dont have the bugs i dealt with here and there on Android.

Between the Moto Droid and the Incredible I've been with Android for 3 years and have seen it take some pretty impressive strides. But I am 100% happy with my switch.

I forgot widgets. Not all widgets just the (as mentioned) bluetooth and wifi. Especially wifi. I have to turn my on and off every single day. Not a huge deal, but far more convenient on Android.

I still find myself looking for a notification light on the front ... that would be a nice addition to the iPhone.

Forgot about that. I would like that added to the next iPhone but for whatever reason Apple seems to be against it. Hey, kill to birds with one stone. Make the Apple logo a notification light!

From what I understand, you can make the led flash be a notification, but a light on the back is just useless ... who places their phone face down all the time?

I currently have a Nexus S. It's a good fast phone, doesn't crash on me, takes mediocre pictures but I don't really use it for that. Apps are ok but not brilliant quality. Text messaging is fine but I find that I need Swype.

The Galaxy Nexus has just been announced and left me somewhat "underwhelmed". More of the same just a bit quicker and a better OS to be honest.

I've had an iPhone before, but it was the original iPhone in 2007 in the pre-app store days. Obviously there have been substantial changes since then!

I'm drawn to the iPhone because I want a change, better quality apps and siri. Has anyone else here made the leap? How did you get on? Any regrets? :)

I switched.

Siri is what sold it for me. I can't stay on top of opening apps and entering data for appointments and reminders, so to have siri do that for me actually means I won't miss appointments and forget things I need to do.

I swapped one of my two android phones because of Siri.
However I DEFINITELY REGRET IT BECAUSE SIRI DOES NOT WORK DO TO SERVER PROBLEMS

It's still early ... the server problems will not last forever. There are millions of people still asking siri to open the pod bay doors ... Once the novelty wears off, and people start using siri for more than just showing off or entertaining themselves, performance will improve.

Ha ha I think is funny but I do and is because of android from the nexus s to the evo and evo 3d the camera sticking out will freak me out to put it facing up so I got used to it loo, but I do think the should have one up front maybe the home button would glow different colors that would be good , like blue for Facebook , green for SMS , light blue for twitter :) that would be so nice :) apple still my idea please ha ha

I switched from a Galaxy S. And I have to say, the overall user experience is much better. Which is what really matters in the end. The hardware and software just works, there are more apps, and with greater quality. In the end it's really just the experience that matters. And frankly Android doesn't provide comparable user experience. I personally believe that WP7 is more pleasant to use than Android. But again, because of the iOS' maturity, it is superior.

Switched from an Samsung Fascinate on Verizon and have very little regrets. The camera on the 4S is a godsend and it looks so cool. I barely notice the screen size difference with my OtterBox Commuter on it. The only thing I miss is the ease of transferring files I download to my Mac, but even with my 4S, I just transfer it through iTunes, so win-win. Android gets stale after the first 3-5 months after my opinion, after you start flashing ROMS, there's not much left.

Really...

Where is the app that puts on the home page the ability to switch on and off
wi-fi and network?

Where is the app that allows the user to set volume on notifications different from the volume of the ringtone?

I'd appreciate your advice on these.

I have a 4S....which I do not want to "tether" jailbreak.

I agree these features while useful, are not available until they get the untethered jailbreak running. I am keeping an eye out for when this happens and will update the minute I'm broken but they have apps to add ALL of that to the pull down menu in iOS5

I still find myself looking for a notification light on the front ... that would be a nice addition to the iPhone.

You can have your flash notify you on these things.

I agree 100% with this observation. I noticed that you only re-arrange your widgets so many times before you toss it because it lacks support or drains battery. I don;'t mind hitting the weather app or pull down. You can also master the dbl click of the home button to switch between multiple apps with ease.

notice how the person you quoted said about anything.
calm down

What settings give a different volume to the ringtone and the mail notification?

Oh, now I realize you are looking for this option on the iPhone ... yeah, not happening.

You can have your flash notify you on these things.

Keep reading ... why would you want the notification light on the back of the device? You know, the side that usually faces a surface.

I regret that I ever purchased an android phone to begin with.

The android platform is really surprising to me considering it is backed by google.

They have pretty much given Apple free reign to monopolize the smart phone market with a better product. You can see how upset most android owners are by just doing a google search. You will find people upset over the fact that they just bought a brand new phone, yet it has a version of android that is over a year old. You will find hundreds of threads of people complaining about poor battery life and struggling to find ways to fix it.

Until google gets it's act together and forces all phone device makers to keep their phones on the latest version of android, this problem will just get worse and favor apple even more.

I think the only other contender at the moment is microsoft with the windows phone. I don't know much about the OS but I am sure that microsoft is keeping it up to date better than android.

I switched from iOS to Android and keep reading this about user experience. I don't get it, maybe I'm not smart enough. But the phones perform the same functions for me, no more difficult than one another. I haven't found something in Android and said Apple is just better. I text, tweet, call and find no major differences. I'm still testing the battery on my S2 but as far as user experience I don't feel much different. I found the Apple's app store littered with useless stuff just as I see Android's has useless stuff. I don't understand these quirky comments from each loyal base.

I replaced my Nexus One with an iPhone 4S (after leaving an iPhone 3G) previously.
I enjoyed my time with Android, I wont lie - But what annoyed me was how everything felt half finished; from ugly interfaces to poorly implemented features. Often features of the phone would not work at all (text messages) and of course there always was the underlying concern overall of malware.

I do occasionally find myself right now looking for the Back and Menu buttons beneath my screen; and as crazy as it seems I really miss having text message delivery reports - something iOS5 just hasn't given us.

Still, it feels much more solid and fun to use; plus Siri is amazing - saves me a lot of time when sending texts on the go!

Kev.

Another Samsun Fascinate convert. After just a few months I was just waiting for the upgrade to be able to switch out. That phone gave me so many problems, especially after the upgrade to gingerbread - I would constantly have to take out and replace the battery because the phone would lockup/freeze or the contacts/phone app would not work properly. It was my first foray into a smart phone so at the time the camera, video, web browsing and various apps all were very cool. However, that all passed with phone issues.

New iPhone 4s user since Friday and love it. Have a macbook, iMac, iPad 2, and like others, this was the logical step to sync everything together. Compared to the Fascinate, the iPhone is so smooth and quick, and don't regret my upgrade at all.

A very happy user!

I find this to not be an issue the light is SOOO bright it literally reflects my case and I see it regardless. Specially if in my pocket. If it is on the desk face up I see the emails coming in, and you can set reminders so it flashed the screen on.

OH ON NAVIGATION, someone said they wanted the NAV feature. I broke it down here: http://listentotristan.blogspot.com/2011/10/android-to-iphone-navigation-for-free.html But essentially it is FREE nav with turn by turn voice that works GREAT!

I just miss the turn by turn navigation that I dont have to pay for.

and the ability to watch flash stuff. Because skyfire isn't doing anything at all...

From Droid X (rooted, went through all the things you get to "customize")

Only thing I miss is the google map navigation. It was free and it was great.
