Came from a Droid x and a Droid Bionic.

I miss

* blinking LED's
* tiny notification icons in the status bar (or whatever its called)
* ability to clear notifications one by one
* built in FM Tuner (streaming eats batteries)
* ability to pause/skip music player from the lock screen
* 4g speed of the bionic (wow! it was FAST)
* larger screen for viewing videos
* turn by turn GPS free
* swype keyboard
* app drawer
* ability to expand storage/battery
* silly live wallpapers
* post a photo direct facebook from the camera app

Why I'll likely keep my 4s:

I just love the whole ecosystem that is Apple. I embrace its simplicity along with its limitations. I wanted a tablet and a phone and the android tablets just don't cut it. I didn't want to buy apps from two different systems. I like searching iTunes from the iPad or my pc. Everything is just easier.

I had grown tired of lugging around the big phone and the display on the iphone is incredible. The faster camera and Siri simply sealed the deal.

I have not used a iPhone yet. But I do follow what's going on around it (or Symbian or BB or Bada for that matter).

I am super confused here. You guys are saying it does not have a file system. How's this possible? How can you deal with files (aka pics, music etc.,) when you don't have a file system? But it's hard for me grasp that it's working on block-level (as in raw block vs file level). I am sure I don't properly understand the context here.

Pretty sure you can do that with the iPhone. I believe you hit the home button twice when the phone is locked.

That's what Waze GPS app is for :D

It does have one, just hidden so to speak. The way the iPhone works, and iPad for that matter, is that the OS itself is hidden to the end user. That's by design. The user doesn't need have to understand folders, and Raw vs. Block vs. anything. Music/Video is iTunes for the most part. Photos go to Photos. Same place, always. You don't make folders, etc. to store all that. It's baked in, and non-changable. You can Jailbreak the phone, and then use it more like that of an Android device. Folders, OS level commands, etc.

Correct!

The only apps I really think I'm going to miss on the iPhone are the Google ones: Navigation, Sky Map, MyTracks, and their "News & Weather" widget.

A small price to pay, overall ...

Switched from a Moto Droid2 and have not looked back. After having the iPad2 I knew that I would not be disappointed with another Apple product. I did get a Bionic about a week before the 4S came out and was just not impressed, but the 4G did scream.

All these former Android people saying they miss the home screen ability to quickly turn off wifi, 3g, and bluetooth. Do that many people with iPhones turn that stuff off regularly? I never turn any of it off and my battery easily lasts me all day. I figured that was a necessity of Android because battery life is horrible.

Why leave it on if you aren't using it?

Left a Droid X, why? Well, I was sick of it's laggy UI, rebooting almost everyday, and miscellaneous other annoying things. I tried everything to make it better, with no luck. Has my new iPhone 4S done any of that stuff? No!

Any regrets? Psh no :D;):apple:

When I first got my Android I'd set up a homescreen widget to toggle that stuff ... and then the widget hardly ever got used, so I deleted it.

I have solutions for a few of your efforts:

FREE TURN BY TURN: http://listentotristan.blogspot.com/2011/10/android-to-iphone-navigation-for-free.html

Battery Storage Expansion: http://listentotristan.blogspot.com/2011/10/really-affordable-6-charger-for-your.html

Blinking LED: You can make the flash flicker and if it is face down the screen can turn on so you will see :) You can also set it to do it over and over so you never miss it. (settings / Notifications)

ability to pause/skip music player from the lock screen: Double tap the home button BLAMO there is your music controls.

Posting photos to Facebook: http://listentotristan.blogspot.com/2011/10/android-to-iphone-share-multiple-photos.html

Hope that helps :)

Have you tried these? And can you review them vs each other, their price points are quite different :p

For those speaking of missing the Google Nav, I think Waze is totally free. I've given it a try.. like it so far. It's free turn by turn.

Switched from my HTC Thunderbolt.

But will most likely switch back when Galaxy Nexus gets released.

:D

But does it show the picture (Google street view) of the next turn?

One thing that got me back to the iPhone 4S from a Galaxy S2 was the fact that I don't have to zoom in to read text on a web page.

Even with the 4.3 inch display on the Galaxy you still have to tap or pinch to zoom in to read the text, even then it's still not as clear as retina display.

:confused:

Oh, now I realize you are looking for this option on the iPhone ... yeah, not happening.

Wifi and network on/off options on the home page would be a good deal because the iPhone battery is so...well...undernourished. :) The ability to toggle these features gives the ability to stretch out battery life.

I am also missing Swype. Is there an iPhone app for that?
