"But, for people who use Mac's for work or content creation and like the latest and greatest spec's in a notebook or desktop it's been damn disappointing I'm sorry to say. And, this trend started shortly after I switched my whole company over to Mac's, in the last 18 months we've spent 6 figures on Apple's products, not bad for a small company."

Wow! I'm almost in the exact same boat...except we are elated with the performance of EVERY Mac in the company! Almost 20 years of suffering through all the BS that comes with running a business with PCs....we switched almost 4 years ago and couldn't be happier. BTW, ALL we do is content creation. Audio, Video and Digital design. Live and Memorex:) Maybe, before spending 6 figures, you should've figured out your business plan and expectations? Seems pretty silly to me, if you know what you're doing and where you're going. I find absolutely NOTHING lacking for content creation! Zero, nada, zilch. We are incredibly excited about the efficiency and reliability as well. No need for an "I.T. Guy" anymore....No need for a network administrator...and all the confidence in the world when producing a live show that NOTHING will crash!

I think your sentiments are due to bad judgement...NOT bad soft/hardware implementations from Apple.

Didn't Snow Leopard just come out last year? Didn't they keep pushing out patches/revisions? Didn't they complete the migration over to 64 bit computing and implemented a lot of new tech like OpenCL, Grand Central, Exchange support and the like? This is all at the same time as continuing development of iOS, introducing an entirely new product category and keeping up with hardware refreshes of all their existing products.

I think you guys have a screw loose. Just because they're not talking about it at a special media event doesn't mean they haven't been working on it.

They have definitely pulled resources to from Final Cut Pro and OSX to focus on this new direction.

I think it's telling that even Apple is calling the event "Back to the Mac."

They know perfectly well what they have been doing, and they are ok with it.

Fact is I'm learning fast my Sony Z with an 3G usb stick does all of the above and much better than some of Apples options ...

For $3000 it should do all that without a 3G usb stick and still qualify for american idol.

It doesn't.

Lets not forget it still runs on a windows OS  with a 3-4 hour battery under real world usage.

...more important to me than the saved money is using only one device is true simplicity no syncing and no sacrificing. I ALWAYS have a full power computer with me, no worries about flash, having a good keyboard, ports and everything I need whether on the couch, travel, desk, that's simplicity, I'm beginning to love it.

Whether you adopt a one-device-for-all-tasks methodology or a multi-device strategy has more to do with your mental planning than anything else. The 13" Sony Z is more powerful than the 13" MBP, but besides playing a blu-ray and acting as a hot spot, what else can it do that the MBP can't? Keep in mind that you're paying a costly premium for that BD player and IIRC you need a carrier plan for the 3G hot spot. And if you need that extra processing power, you can get a 15" MBP and still save $$ over the Z. Flash works on MBPs. Both have enough ports to hook up just about everything you may need (with and without adapters).

Sounds to me like you just need to give up your iOS devices and just stick with a laptop, whether apple or sony or someone else, makes no difference on this level. First, decide on a one device for all or multiple devices. Then choose the best device or devices for you...

How does the trackpad compare to the one on the Macs?
