I started to design websites just as a hobby this year. I had the opprotuinity to work on a course website at The Evergreen State College, so I bought a copy of dreamweaver. One day i would like to learn code but right now this is just a hobby and possibly a chance for me to earn a little extra cash. The course website is below. I'd love to know what you guys think -n

my current 'see if i can make all this junk work' project is a phpnuke site for the irc channel #firefly.

http://s94698184.onlinehome.us/nuke/html/

the graphics were done in photoshop, and the coding has been done mostly in textedit and kate. phpnuke doesn't really lend itself to wysiwyg editors because of the nature of how the system works. but that would be a long explanation that would confuse us both. a lot of it is over my head still, but i keep plugging away, and the thing does seem to work. what are hobbies for if not figuring junk out, right?

and hey, watch firefly. :D

more sites...

Besides my art/design portfolio site in my sig, here's a few:

Kooties.com Flash & HTML (also designed the characters)

finelineproperties.com - cartoon character development studio I work with (cartoon characters, web design, print design, etc.). Flash & HTML sites.

ZephyrPub.com - local bar website

JohnJakesMose.com - local band site

ClearPerspectiveGroup.com - investor relations consultant site

Also got a few personal projects in the works still.

In addition to my company's site i posted above. I have another creation of mine i can post but only as a screen shot as it is a live app requiring authentication.

This is a distance learning web app we created for a consortium of northeast pennsylvania schools and are fairly proud of. Its in beta stage right now and only being tested by two schools currently.

sorry guys i forgot about this thread. anyways the reason for the interest is because im a real estate agent here in hawaii looking to maybe soon get a web page up. i will be going over all the web pages that were posted, so keep them coming, please.

heres a brief description of what i want. a simple web page consisting of around 3 pages. i already designed a simple logo for myself and i want the web page to have a professional and simple yet a 'fresh' design. also i want something compatible. compatible meaning i want something fast loading with not so many large images for dial up users. i dont want a 'intro' page, especially one instructing me to change my resolution and directing me to either a flash or HTML site. no frames. keep it simple, stupid! how much would it cost to design something like this?

after that is designed i will be looking to have the web designer add another page or two with my current listings as well as a few select listings that are not mine for the buyers. im not concerned about the price of this as of yet.

i am also looking to have a student or a inspiring web developer do this project.

please PM me if your interested in this small project

i went over all the posted sites and here are the designs im interested in...

i really like the site made by Thirteenva, rightreasontech.com. great use of the color blue, very simple yet professional looking and it has that 'up-to-date' look.

Rover_CPUs site, larcnet.sdsu.edu is great also. its not simple like what i asked, very 'busy' i guess, but it just looks good.

i will definately be interested in web pages from either of you, i love your styles.

ptowns site buntonmotorsports.com/mcr is good. your typical good professional looking site but i wanted more of an edge to it.

mangoduck with mangoduck.popflux.com is very interesting but a little to out there for what i want.

Thanks. We were lucky enough to have a pretty good graphic designer working with us when we rolled out our new site. The code is all mine, though.

It's not busy once you get off the front page, though.

I'm glad you liked it. I currently work full time as the graphic designer and web developer at the company who's site you looked at. I've been thinking about taking on some freelance side work again. So if you decide to move forward with the site, feel free to contact me. I'm honest about my schedule and if I cannot take on your project at that time, I will let you know so as to not waste anyones time or compromise the quality of the work.

No matter who you decide on, you'll be in very good hands with the wealth of talented people who've posted their sites.

I guess I will throw my hat in the ring. I have basically three websites:

1. My blog (using iBlog and .mac) homepage.mac.com/garnerk/iblog
2. My side business at www.precisionpatent.net
and 3. www.peacefulpriestlake.com, this is a site I am making for my grandfather and his cabin that he hopes to rent out. Nothing here yet, but I think he is getting me the info he wants on there soon, so check it out if you are looking to book a vacation.

www.etingley.com

I have done a few sites, my main one is a PHP/mySQL which is my own site: www.etingley.com its got some information about me (Chris Tingley) and my university degree.

I also have recently done a site for my employer www.resourceaudit.com.

The design/graphics and coding are all my own.

Chris Tingely.

Here's my personal/portfolio/resume site (It's a work in progress. I just created it about a month ago):

http://www.brentmaraman.com

Currently the domain just forwards to my my .Mac homepage. As soon as I get the pictures, videos, and other pages up, I'm going to host it someplace other that .Mac.

It's just simple HTML. I don't know anything about CSS or flash or any of that stuff. I'm taking Online Media 1 right now, and next semester I'll take Online Media 2 where we learn about creating flash movies and stuff like that.

I'll also throw my hat in to this mix... I make websites, have for about 5 years or so... here's my my portfolio and in my day job I work for a company called OHIONET as a web and graphic designer...

My biggest thrill as a web designer was getting to work with Hillman Curtis, who is the coolest designer I've ever met....

Cheers,
Scott

Wow. Hillman Curtis is a big fish to land. Kudos, and nice designs. :)
