Still using a 2010 17" MBP for some things (desktop PC for demanding stuff).

Still gets 6-8 hours of battery, has a glorious 1200p 17" display, and runs okay in El Capitan (but not that great).

It does run Linux and Windows 7/10 exceptionally well, though, so when OSX becomes too much for it, I'll likely just remove it and use those.

Sure it's a bit chunky, but it has acceptably narrow bezels and I always have a backpack, so it doesn't bother me much. It's worth it for the screen real estate.

The best part is that it didn't cost very much since I bought it used for around $500 USD last year, with 8 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD, and a legit copy of Windows (which I do need for some things).
