Undecided whether i will Gazelle my 64GB iPad 3 LTE for $350 and get one. The main reason for me would be the Lightning, less cord/adaptor shuffling with my iPhone 5.

The added benefit for anyone who travels and the millions abroad is global LTE coverage.

This may not be a benefit to us in the US but opens up a huge market for apple overseas.

i will upgrade when im able to jailbreak, Can't have 2 stock ios devices at the same time.

I will upgrade, who wants to be using old tech and making do. Going to sell my iPad3 before people start moving "en masse" to the new connector and associated peripherals.

This is just weird. How can they release a 4th gen within 6 months.
It still doesnt have the IGZO screen so no. In another 6 months they'll probably release iPad 5 with IGZO, so why buy a 4th gen.
This is just nuts!

It's near the holiday season and people will buy it.

I don't have an iPad. Never wanted an Pad. I was adamant how pointless an iPad was.

Then I used one for a day (last week) whilst watching football, laying a few bets and playing Temple Run.

Now I want an iPad. I want a red iPad cover. I need an iPad in my life.

I'm completely undecided  A Retina and Lightning (and speed) upgrade would be quite nice, but I have to say I'm quite happy with my iPad 2. I'm not sure this really was the 4 I was hoping for.

I'm planning on upgrading. Looks like the rumors were correct.

I'll be keeping my iPad 1 though - it still works fine :)

Planning on picking mine up next Friday at launch.

Sorry for the misunderstanding .... the comment "so why buy a 4th gen" was purely personal rhetoric (notice no question mark) in line with my response to the OP's original question "Who is buying the 4th gen iPad then?" to which my answer was "no".
In other words, having considered the timing of the release and what I'd personally hoped for in the iPad 4, I'm basically saying (or deliberating) why would I (me) want to buy a 4th gen.

Yes I agree that the present release date for the Mini and iPad 4 are in line with the holiday shopping season. There are people definitely out there that have been holding off on upgrading and the iPad 4 specs may be enough to make them upgrade.

I am getting the new one... I had the 3rd one and felt that the A6 would make things faster... I am also thinking of the mini for smaller projects...

Usually I upgrade my iPad to the newest one when its released, but I don't think so this time. Im not feeling it idk why.

Yup, same here always upgrade but not feeling the itch right now. I'll update if I win say a couple hundred bucks at the casino....which will cover taxes and cost I might lose flipping my 3rd gen on eBay. That's the only way I'll do it.

How do we know this for a fact? It's a pretty esoteric spec. Apple doesn't always spell out the more esoteric specs in keynotes.
Hi mcdj! There is no factual evidence at this point, however I, as many others believe, that when Apple go for the thinner IGZO screen, which allegedly uses less power ergo requires a smaller battery that we will see a thinner, lighter, cooler (as in producing less heat), less power hungry iPad. Thus the Sharp IGZO screen should allow Apple to make the iPad "the thinnest iPad ever", to use their words of course. :p

The reason the iPad 3 got bigger (and heavier) was due to the power hungry Retina display and the bigger battery required to power it and maintain 10hrs battery life. So if iPad 4 has retained the same battery as iPad 3 and does have the IGZO display panel then Apple should be claiming that the device has a much better life than 10 hrs, which they haven't.
Perhaps they're saving this for the iPad 5?... or 6?... or who knows when.. heh heh.

Anyway as for lifting the veil on the esoteric specs, we're going to have wait for ifixit to give us the final word on this.
Cheers...
:)

your main reason should be because of the A6X which you should have first hand experience with on your iPhone 5.

the A5X is insufficient to both power the retina AND handle intense graphics processing during games like Metal Storm. the iPad 2 was a bettery performer in this regard.

the A6X will be a godsend. luckily i bought my iPad 3, 32GB LTE-Verizon on October 3 so i fall within the unofficial 30 day exchange window

good riddance A5X...

My wife and I'll be getting our first ipad with this one...We put off on the ipad released in march because of the rumors of changes...The new A6X chip is a pretty large increase in performance plus the new connector so we're getting this latest ipad.
