Im going to work at 5pm so I hope the fedex guy comes to my house before that.
I'll be looking out the window every 10 minutes probably:D
Last year the ups truck drove by my house every 10 min in the morning, and I still didn't get it till late that evening.

I hear you.
Then I will worry if the truck comes when Im in the shower or in the bathroom.
Last time UPS tried to deliver my ipad 3 around 5:10 once I was already at work and noone home.
I was at home all day waiting, figures:D

This happens to me all the time as soon as I leave less than 5 mins later they come by.

I'm already set for an Oct.5th delivery date but if by next Wednesday Apple has not prepared my iPhone for shipment then I am going to seriously considering canceling my order and going to my local Apple Store on Friday. That way I'll have time to make sure the upgrade process resets itself and I can make the proper arrangements. The problem is though that being a stay at home dad currently I would have to convince the wife to take Friday off and cross my fingers the she has PTO. We will see.

Oh and FedEx usually delivers early, my only concern is my personal training appointment at the gym. I'll leave a note on the door for the 90 minutes I'm gone.

And I know people have different work situations, even if I took the day off, it wouldn't be an issue. I get 4 weeks of paid vacation per year and as many paid 'personal days' that I want, as long as they aren't abused.

Last year I worked from home to wait for the 4S delivery and was distracted all day and did not receive the phone from UPS until almost 9 pm! Since they ALWAYS deliver to my office before noon as it is a business and receives priority on deliveries in my area, I went ahead and just had it shipped to my office this year.

I wanna make sure I'm home when it arrives, because someone at our fed ex just got arrested for stealing iPads and then reselling them on craigslist. Not to mention the stories here on the forum of people receiving empty boxes and such.

I have class from 12 to 250. I'll probably print out that pre signature form and write in to leave it at the back door.

I did. Couldn't get it shipped to work, didn't want to try and change the address and risk messing up my order. I wasn't planning on it, but luckily I have plenty of PTO built up!

I have school all day, but im NOT going. Just gonna do school work all day at home and wait for my phone to arrive.

Nope, I need the hours too much. I'm just going to have the delivery place leave it at the place I can pick it up. I hope they choose Fedex though cause FedEx has locations open on Saturday and a very convenient place near my work I can pick up from (and they don't insist to try to deliver once before I can pick up).

I had thought Apple pretty much choose FedEx to ship and now it seems I'm seeing that apparently they use UPS too (for some reason I thought they had some deal with FedEx to do their deliveries).

Though if they chose UPS they'd not have the problem of UPS delivering early like they did some year (FedEx normally ships to you soon as it gets to your city. UPS will hold it and wait until the day they promise, they never deliver earlier on anything, one thing I hold against them).

I get off work that mouring (6am)...going straight to the store with some starbucks. Hopefully I can have it and be in bed before 10am :)

I'd love to take off but that just can't happen on Fridays ahh suspense

Just hoping that I get shipped to via FedEx and that they're open at 7:30pm Friday... hey actually since I don't have to be at work until 10am... would the phone be available for pickup that early?

I am having it delivered to my UPS Store Mailbox. I use that to get all my business mail already, so now I also have all my packages go there.

The big plus is that they will e-mail me as soon as a package arrives and I can just go and pick it up right away. The location is only a few blocks from my house.

They sign for all packages as well (unlike a PO Box where I believe they do not accept shipments other than letters).

If you guys get a lot of things shipped and are tired of wasting time waiting for the UPS man or having to drive late after hours to some godforsaken warehouse in a dark corner of the industrial sector of your town, then a UPS store mailbox (or some competitor of them) might be a good investment.

It is also good if you run your own business and don't want to post your home address everywhere.

I pay about $270 a year for mine but I know they have cheaper options available. And I now have 0 stress about getting anything I order online.

I'm hoping to request the day off. Stayed up late with my friend to preorder it and he couldn't get it since he wanted to buy it contract free, so I told him I'd go with him in the morning to wait for it. That's iPhone obligation 1. Then I need to go to class so I'm hoping it doesn't come then :/ Then I'll take the day off all after that hopefully.

I work from home so I guess I'm having it shipped to work. Just have to find time to sneak over to AT&T to have the phone switched to my line (bought on an upgrade from another line).

I'm having the phone shipped to my office. That way I can at least give the illusion of working.

Nice. How did you pull that off? Is that also your billing address? I went the online order route and my building has a doorman, so I'll get an e-mail next Friday when the phone arrives. If it arrives in the morning, I may take a "long lunch," but otherwise I'll just wait until I get home in the evening.

You may be better off just calling and having them swap the accounts registered to each SIM card. AT&T stores may be crowded with people asking about the iPhone.

I've already asked for the entire day off work. My boss doesn't give a crap. Hell, I asked off a half day to watch the keynote liveblogs! Why try to follow liveblogs on a crappy 7 year old Dell laptop at work when I could come home and watch it like this:

Engadget, GDGT, and The Verge liveblogs on the monitors, and Tweetbot on my iPad

That's what my preorder setup looked like just in case, but luckily I had no problems ordering.
