I had a 6s for work, no way it can keep up with an XR. I was playing with one of the XR's here at work and it's no where close in speed. Emails alone in the outlook app load way faster.

Don’t know why you found that? I can place my phones side by side and their really isn’t that much different, the 6S with Touch ID unlocks faster too, also I find it’s much easier to double click the home button to bring your apps up, swiping half way to he screen isn’t very accurate.

And 3D Touch despite what anyone tells you is much easier to use then pressing on the keyboard spacebar hoping it works, because it’s not always reliable in activating your cursor, like when you want to edit posts on here. But hey is dead now which is a shame as it worked great.

6s+ and skipping another batman ear phone... maybe on next year they have something to offer... something else than batman ears... that is a horrible desing.. ever!

Just replaced my 6S' battery yesterday for $55. I purchased it new in 2017 and I paid it off in August. Battery replacement well worth it; this phone does everything I need and nothing I don't.

Dongle is like $5.

I am upgrading from 6s to iPhone 11. The 6s has served me well but it is past time to be replaced. I am looking forward to the massive upgrade.

The weight of the new iPhones is disturbing. I am a one handed user guy so holding such a huge weight is disastrous for me.

iPhone 6 / 7 / 8 was the greatest form factor.

Hands down. No argument.

Those aren’t one handed phones either (I got a 6). Last one handed phone was the SE and honestly imho the best iPhone design was the 5 (small differences make it look better than the 5s or SE). Too bad apple thinks everyone wants these monster phones now. My 6 is dying so I am upgrading but it’s a shame we may never see an SE type phone again (my dream would be a full screen SE type phone). I’m annoyed enough I’m spending 300 more just to have a phone that is only slightly bigger than my 6. The cheaper phone is much bigger.

Did you develop FaceID?

Do you know exactly how the data is truly stored and transmitted?

Do you realize people’s personal conversations were exposed to contractors in Ireland without their consent?

Nope to both. Nope to all.

Next.

Methinks you are mixing up Siri with Face ID (which is what the other guy pointed out too). Siri is what is listening to you and what apple was caught sending data to contractors. Face ID doesn’t listen to you so not sure how it would send conversations to anyone as it captures people’s faces, not their speech or text.

And I’m going to guess you dont know how the data was stored either seeing as you are really confused on what info Face ID uses even though it is in the name.

Retiring my SE back to back up phone and ordered a Pro model, SE is technically the last phone that has a headphone jack and runs iOS 13.

My 7 can play media, make phone calls, text people, take pics, and play games.

I can hold it in one hand without my hand falling off.

I just can’t imagine holding a device that weighs 8 ounces.

Holding on to the 7 for dear life.

I was holding on to the 6 for dear life cause I really need 1 thousand dollars more than I needed the latest and greatest. Even tried fixing it when the charger port died a few months ago. Unfortunately cause I needed a phone before I went on vacation and ifixit couldn’t get me the part before I left I went with some cheap crap on eBay and my phone has seriously gone downhill since. Combine that with it no longer being supported I decided it’s time but didn’t want a phone that has been out almost a year so I waited. If my phone still was working ok I could maybe hold out and see if that SE rumor was true but at this point my phone is so crappy not willing to wait that long and i don’t want to spend a few hundred just for a temp phone to let me wait longer. Even though the 11 pro is even bigger I can’t wait to get rid of my failing 6. It’s reallh been annoying these past few months (it still works per say but very badly).

I don't really see a reason to hold out. Nor upgrading when a new device comes out just because it is better. A phone just like any other electronic. I keep and use until it no longer performs the tasks I want or need it to perform adequately.

Holding out implies that it doesn't do what you want or need it to do adequately anymore. In which case your just punishing yourself. If one manufacturer doesn't offer quite what I want in a new device. I find the one which is the closest match. Being sure to meet needs first. Then evaluate wants and compromise on the closest fit within my budget.

As for those whom upgrade every year. That just seems wasteful. From a financial and environmental standpoint. Then again that makes it easy for me to find deals in the used market;).

It's important to distinguish between wants and needs. My iPhone 6s Plus does everything I need it to do. However, I want an OLED screen, better camera, faster processor, etc. I'm sure the vast majority of 6s owners do, but some of us still have a reason to decline the current offering (price, or waiting for specific features rumored for next year's iPhones, or both).

Well, another year with my 6S plus for me. Got myself an 11 Pro today.., it’s nice, but not $1800 (can) nice. I just wiped it, back in the box and getting returned to Apple tomorrow. My current phone does everything I need a smartphone to do. I used to upgrade every other year (since gen 1), but at the price they charge now, I need a really good reason to upgrade, especially when my current phone works fine and the battery is still at 96% and give me easily a day and a half of use.

Maybe next year...

So I got the 11 and it’s way faster then my 7. I got used the Face ID quickly and all I do is swipe up and on my way. Touch ID is good, until your hands are wet or sweaty.

App changing took a little getting use too, but now I’ve fine.

Irish contractors listened to Apple customer conversations.

“What is on your iPhone stays on your iPhone....“

In other words, FaceID is not “a security threat like no other.”

Siri is a completely different discussion, and wouldn’t be a surprise given a little rudimentary knowledge in how Siri works.

So this really is a thing. I'm seeing more and more complaints about weight the more time I spend in this forum. I have a hard time imagining how a weight difference of a few ounces between phones could be "disturbing". I have a XS as my personal phone and an 8 for work and while I know one is heavier than the other, in a blindfolded test I'd never be able to tell you which is which. I also used a XR for a few days and again, I know it was heavier but it wasn't something I actively thought about after the first few minutes.

I have a 6S+ and an 11. They're close to the same weight, but the 6S+ feels lighter because of how thin it is. The 11 feels denser and heaver, but I think this is mostly psychological. I prefer the feel of the 6S+ in my hand, but prefer everything else about the 11. I do miss the headphone jack.

I’m in the exact same position as you in terms of phones. Have a 6S+ want an 11 but unsure if I should wait it out another year or just make the jump. 5G speeds aren’t important to me since I think current speeds on my 6S+ are plenty fast and getting an 11 will make it that much faster (better chips since 6S+ release) and I never had the newer body style so it will definitely feel like a refresh in that aspect. Are you keeping your 11 or waiting it out another year with the 6S+?

Not me. 6s is my backup phone now. I’m IN LOVE with my iPhone 11. The speed and smoothness is ridiculous. The display is incredible, the cameras are fantastic, battery life seems to be awesome. This phone is the sh*t

The only reason you would keep the 6s is because you have to.

and because, well...

- we want a smaller phone
- we want a lighter phone
- we dont want a notch
- we dont like a pulsed light screen giving headaches
- we love how Touch ID works

but other than that, its only because we "have to".

I'm keeping the 11 but am also keeping the old 6S+ as a backup. Part of me feels guilty for mothballing a perfectly good working phone, but I spend hours interacting with my pocket computer every day and the user experience of the 11 is ridiculously better than the 6S+. I expect the 11 to last me the next 3-4 years though - I don't expect 5G networks to be mature enough to be useful until then.

Yep, 6S is still as usable as it's ever been - have one for work. Performance still seems great :). Would be nice to get two years out of it, but I would expect security updates will get dropped next year, then I'll move up to either a smaller phone (if one exists) or whatever Apple device is available if not.
