I'm really not trying to start something or be picky, but I thought Christmas was based on the Roman Saturnalia? (Winter equinox)

This thread was fun before it got all religious, besides, I thought the OP wanted to hear from people who are NOT celebrating x-mas.

Ahh yes....the Hannukah candles. On the first night, my dad realized we didn't have any Hannukah candles in the house, so I suggested that we use some of the roman candles left over from the 4th of July. Needless to say, he went out and bought some Hannukah candles.

I'd actually look forward to stopping whatever I'm doing to light the Hannukah candles if we were using roman candles :D

Don't be. Equinox is when the Sun is directly over the Equator, twice a year. ;)

Do I stand corrected? I get confused between the two..

Forget answering my last question. I don't want this to turn into anything. reneged.

Not me even though I have a tree up..Just for some decoration for the holiday. I'll probably stay home on the computer, maybe some television and movies :) and food :D.

I celebrate it every year.
I know someone who used to but for some reason this year is celebrating Haunkuka.

That's not just for Jews! We heathen atheists do that too! :) I just started seeing a Jewish guy and he has Christmas ornaments all over his house! I asked him why and he said, "Hanukkah is boring, we've decided to steal Christmas from the Gentiles." :D

Not religious, it's just a fun day to get together with your family, eat, exchange gifts, etc. Couldn't care less about the religious reasons for the holiday :D

Meh, I'm doing it. Girlfriends off to midnight mass with her family later tonight. Love this holiday. I suppose we're an agnostic family but everyone just gets happy and stuff. Christmas-Energy or something.

Not for me

I won't be celebrating Christmas, and I never have done.

As a Christadelphian I don't think the pagan origins of Christmas are something I should be involved with.

I'm definitely enjoying the two weeks I get off school because of it though.

No, I was told today that I'm getting a divorce...

:(

Crawn

Urgh that's really crap, I'm sorry to hear that, you would've thought your partner could atleast wait the extra 2 days...

Well, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a refreshing New Year, keep your chin up, and stay strong :)
