Can't you still return/exchange it?
it's just beyond the return period unfortunately, plus it's a hassle to return a cto machine.

I don't think anyone with a unibody (Late-2008 or Mid-2009) would sell their MacBook Pro's for the new one unless they REALLY need whatever Apple plans to upgrade. The increase isn't going to be much if you're making the small upgrade. I think the refresh would benefit those who had an Early-2008 MacBook Pro or earlier. Although old, the Core 2 Duo chip is still a pretty good chip.

You can try and do it? Where did you get it from?
Sometimes stores will accept returns regardless of their policy, talk to a manager, see if they can make an exception.
You cannot return CTO machines and so he can only sell it. That's one of the HUGE drawbacks when buying CTO instead of a stock machine.
currently I have a mid 2007 macbook, im at uni doing computer arts and desperate for something with a better graphics and processor! im itching for a macbook pro but i dont want to buy it now and a couple of weeks later a new model comes out
