A mile high
It is rare anymore to see people using the iPhone 4/4S as their every day iPhone. Usually see the 5C/5S now...don't you say that the iPhone 4 is a little outdated?

So who still uses the good ol' iPhone 4? And why

Up until recently, my mom was still rocking her 4. However, she just used it to make calls, text and take an occassional picture. I had her upgrade to the 5s because she wanted a bigger screen (she wasn't interested in the 6). But her 4 suited her just fine for everyday use.

I work a retail job, and based on the few thousand customers I see on a weekly basis, a lot of people still use the 4/4s. I hardly see 5/5c/5s's at all. I've also never seen a 6+ in the wild.

My mom still rocks her 4 and loves it.

If she'd switch carriers I'd upgrade her to my old 5S.

Really? I see 5/5S around a lot and have seen several 6+ in the wild - I even stopped and talked to a gal about hers and how she liked it. I saw another one at Game 1 of the world series being used a buy a gal in the row in front of me.

It might be regional, when I'm in NC I mostly see 4/4S in use.

I know a few people who still use iPhone 4's. My coworker has one; however, he's upgrading to the iPhone 6 Plus next month.

I still see a ton of 4's and 4s's in the wild.

I don't see the 5c or 5 very often.

I see a lot of 5s's though.

I'm starting to see some 6's. I have only seen one 6 Plus in the wild (not counting me).

I've noticed someone using a 3GS about 6 months ago. Crazy.

Does it count if I see my wife's old 4s still sitting on the entertainment center because I have continuously forgotten to sell it? If not I have only seen a small number of the iPhone 4 in that past several months. Most everything around me is the 5s or the 6 now.

I have to use the 4s as a work phone still as the company have missed an upgrade or two.

When it comes to putting in your pocket and getting bashed around its ace, however with more complex attachments, dropbox and web browsing it is struggling.

I still use a 4s, and have no plans to upgrade anytime soon. It still does everything I need it to, so I don't see the point in switching.

I occasionally use my 4S....its still on ios5, and it is *very* fast with great battery life. I used to have another 4S, larger capacity but it was on ios 8

its pretty crazy how different the two phones felt. Night and day in terms of performance and battery life!

I haven't seen too many 4's in the wild, I had a friend who was using one but recently upgraded to the 6

I've seen tons of 4S's though, many people I know still use them

Most common though the 5, 5C and 5S.

For all the sales the 6 picked up, when I owned a 6 I was the only person rocking it...a few more friends got them around the christmas season, they're picking up but still a rare sight.

6 Plus even more so...only spotted one of those in the wild since launch. Might be because its so big people aren't really walking around with them, rather use them when they are taking a break or resting.

This is just iPhones though, I would say overall more people I see and know are using Android devices (60/40)

My mum still uses her iPhone 4 from 2010. The home button no longer works but she refuses to upgrade.

I used an iphone 4 until last month. I got it when it was the free option from Verizon, so it was already a 2 year old design at that point. It was definitely slow, but usable for my needs (phone, texting, web searches, weather, light games, camera). I couldn't upgrade because I was locked in to the 2 year contract.

Now I have a 6 and my mom is using the ip4 with no cell service, she just uses it on wifi and for facetime calls.

I see a lot of people with the 4s.

I have an iPhone 4, and use all the features. I'm planning on getting a 6 in a couple months, or maybe wait for the 6S. In the mean while, it still does the job for me, only Facebook is painfully slow. I think Facebook optimises for more RAM or more cores, because it will just sit there, without the downloading indicator showing, and then suddenly show content. I'm definitely looking forward to a larger screen, but in the meanwhile I just use other devices if I need to use a complex non-mobile website. What's kept the device usable is everything going through iCloud, so I can do most of the data entry on something larger, and then view data and do smaller edits on the phone.

I use a 4s, my wife uses a 4, and will get an upgrade shortly. I love these replies with things like 'crazy' this phone does all i need it to and then some, im very happy with it, why should/would i upgrade if im happy with the one i have?

This phone snob crap drives me mad

I haven't seen a 4 in quite some time around here. I work in a dealership and most people still have 5's and 5s's. Two other people have the 6 and no one other than myself has a 6 Plus. I've seen several of both in the wild but tons more 5's. Its funny with Apple selling so many 6's that you don't see more. Goes to show how many phones there really are out here.

I recently gave my 5S to my wife to take her 4 out of service. Camera was slow starting and it was her main beef. And the camera blew out reds in flower shots. All other stuff worked okay for her.

My dad and my brother both have the 4S. I also see them in the wild since I'm a college student. I'm seeing more 5/5c/5ses though. The 6/6+ is still pretty rare. It's been a long time since I've seen anything older than a 4. I knew a girl about two years ago who still had a 3GS, and it died not long after.

iPhone 3GS here. :p

Ah, you crazy Canadians...

(Just kidding. If you really are still on a 3GS, then great!)

----------
I was visiting my old high school a few weeks ago and I saw a lot of 5/5C/5S models, a few 6, and very few 4/4S models.

I use a 4S as my work phone, replaced a 3GS a couple of months ago when it got handed back when someone moved on. Give the alternative choice of a Lumia 530 I'll keep the "old" iPhone thanks. Runs iOS8 very well.

I was using a 4 as my personal phone until the 6 launched. Worked perfectly after 4 years of daily use, original battery still lasted a couple of days. It was just ... very ... slow ... since installing iOS7.

Outdated? No. The 4 crawls on iOS7, but would work just fine if it had been left on iOS6. It's a tool, not a fashion statement that turns into a pumpkin after 12 months. ;)
