iPhone launch day used to be my floating holiday because I couldn't preorder a Verizon phone and pay full price and keep my UDP. I had to queue up. This year that changed. Preordered and it'll be delivered to the office.

Won't you spend enough time staring at it the next couple of years, that you don't need to devote a whole day to it?

This.

I don't even care if my ship date gets bumped. Not that desperate to get my hands on the "next big thing".

My 128gb 7 Plus Black is expected 9/16 btw.

Luckily have the day off since I'm a shift worker. If UPS rings my doorbell mid #2, I may have to run out without clean up ;)

Not srs

Finally working nights has its advantages... I'll wake up early on Friday so I get time to play with my new series 2 watch and iPhone 7 :D

I had already scheduled myself to be off, not fully for the launch knowing it could have been on the following Friday which I am scheduled. Just happened to work in my favor.

Last year Apple waited an extra week to release so I didn't ask for the right day off but it didn't matter.

I'll working from home next Friday so I'm here for the delivery. Although, we are heading out for the weekend in the afternoon so I might call UPS and have them hold it at the hub so I can snag it in the morning. In that case, I'll take an hour to make the trip.

I took the day off. I do it every year. it's just a fun day. I get paid for it. Why not. Especially now... with Jump On Demand on T-Mobile, even my kids (14 & 13) get new iPhone's every year. They are homeschooled... so we kind of have bonding over the whole situation. They have become Apple fans. So we will spend the day hanging out together, playing games, have a nice lunch and wait for the UPS guy.

While I'm doubtful I'll have my jet black 7+ on the 16th, I plan to have it held at my local UPS (or FedEx) center so I can pick it up on my way to work. No waiting for the carrier driver and I can get my phone set up while I'm at work.

I am taking a half day at work Friday and will leave work around noon. UPS typically doesn't show up before noon... and definitely not on an iPhone launch day. I'll work for a few hours, grab lunch and then come home and chill on the couch watching daytime TV while waiting for my package....

(EDIT: I am taking half day of PTO... so I am getting paid for it)

I usually work from home Friday so I'm all set.

Why so upset?
Because I am finally getting back to iPhone after 8 months of S7 edge. And I will be 1100 miles from home so i decided to change my billing address to my sister's house where i'll be staying before I pre-ordered.

I am almost certain I will see the phone arrive there on the 16th. But if I don't and leave the following Wednesday I might not be able to change my shipping address before it delivers there and she has to ship it to me

Potential fiasco. Dunno wtf I was thinking and should've just let it deliver to my condo's delivery receptionist.

To be seen....

Crystal ball says I will have car problems Friday and can't make it to work...let the launch holiday begin lol
I was 'sick' on Apple Watch launch day. The 6S plus I had worked a night the day before so was off in the day time. This year I am off for real though lol

Where I work we can work from home one day a week. My plan is to work from home on Tuesday so I can get the software updates as they release (network willing) and I have taken PTO for Friday as I have to go in store to pick up my wife's and my iPhone devices via the iPhone Upgrade Peogram. My appointment isn't until 10:00 AM given me plenty of time to take my son to daycare and other such things before I go to the Apple Store. I do hope to be able to get to the Apple Store earlier than my appointment and to be let in. I just didn't want to risk too early of a time and not be able to make it. Oh and then I have to take my wife her iPhone at her lunch as she can't wait for her phone but couldn't take off.
