Youtube experiance is horrible in safari and been for years...who is to blame for this? apple or google?
I do not use the youtube app since I find it horrible and ipad does not give me choice to open video in safari or you tube app but jump straight to the app if installed.

Using youtube in safari get worse every day.
I use youtube desktop mode but with every click I am reminded of that with a big blue banner on top (which i have to press to remove)
the blue color really stands out like an eye sore spam message. ....why?

next problem is after a little navigation around youtube my option of skipping forward and back 15 seconds disappear along with options of subtitles, full screen and pip. (which mean i have to press my original youtube shortcut again to regain the controls)
now it happens faster and faster... even after a few clicks.

now after a few skips of 15 sec forward video stop completely and I have to refresh page to watch again (exept now youtube return to the uncontrollable version)

it makes the viewing experience horrible on ipad.

why man ....why?

I doubt that Safari support is high on Google's list of work to do. How's that Apple support for Safari on Windows coming along? And since there is an app available, I doubt there is any inclination at all on Google's part to expend any resources on improving the Safari experience.

I don’t use the app simply because I can not stand ads.
Also think the app gives a bad overview of things on ipad.
12,9 ipad goes well with desktop mode of youtube but there are many problems.

I just wondered if it was something with safari that makes the horrible experience or googles youtube.

anyone else have an alternative app that will let me run youtube no ads?

I am kind of stubborn when it comes to ads.

I don’t have any ads in the Youtube app, they provide the Youtube Premium subscription for exactly that reason.

Youtube on safari even on macbook pro has some audio glitches if you play with time frame

Nobody likes ads, but if it wasn't for the ads you wouldn't have YouTube videos to watch or a forum to post this on now.

They offer YouTube Premium which gives you ad free viewing and allows you to support the creators still, bust I suspect you won't be interested in that either.

I believe I read a news story about how after the baked in IOS app was scrapped (due to apple not wanting ads) google purposefully crippled the mobile internet version so people would download the app, allowing more ad revenue, it worked. It’s an extremely popular app.

Jokes kinda on them though, it has its problems, but on iPad it allows you to use picture in picture and keep videos playing in the background for free when it’s usually a YouTube premium feature.

Haha, yeah, I just discovered that last night! Works great. I deleted the YouTube app because I didn't want to constantly spend time on it. Web browser doesn't look as nice, but works well enough.

Man, I thought I was the only person dealing with problems like this. “YouTube sucks on Safari” for sure! I dunno why. I use the YouTube app instead.

And why do I have to select the 720P or 1080P quality every single time I play a video? Why will it not just default to the quality setting? This happens with the app, or in browser.

He wants others to watch the ads to support the service.
[doublepost=1556907041][/doublepost]Does Firefox block the ads?

hmm, never had any problems with youtube or safari. Maybe the answers you seek are within.

so for some reason you don't think people should be paid for their work. I guess you can just complain. sigh.

No higher quality options either.

I don't think that he has a problem with people getting paid for their work.

Just not him in particular. Everyone else can pay.

The stress we go through to see mostly amateurs produce content of questionable value while being tracked, profiled and bombarded with ads is quite interesting.

we all pay with our data... that is why google is so rich already.
it is okay for google to get the cake .... but they want all the cakes and the cherry.

ads before video, ads in video, product placement and sponsors... I think youtubers make enough already.

sometimes you watch an ad to watch an ad along with product placement and banners... this has no end
