Yea the backups are really cool

I'm still pissed that Apple is ditching iDisk. I use that a lot with my business. Especially sending huge files to my clients other artist who also use iDisk.

Right now I basically have to go back to square one. Its not looking pretty for me. I don't get why Apple is solely focused on the iPhone/iPad? With iCloud you can backup your iPhone but not your Mac. It sound stupid to me. With MobileMe, I can back up all my Macs and my iPhone. With iCloud - just the iPhone and any other mobile devices. tsk tsk tsk

try dropbox in place of iDisk.

as for backup, i wonder if they might head that way and allow iCloud to backup mac's down the line, infact i kind of expect it.

i also expect that they will add support to back up your mac on icloud. but they cant implement it all at once, their servers would die from all the traffic and data I would think.

My father has a mobileme account, i don't and yes if you do have a mobile me account, iCloud will let you merge both accounts. But isn't iCloud still for developers only? Since i'm no developer i'll have to wait for the official release right?

PS: To replace iDisk, try Dropbox. My father has an account there too and he says it's awesome! He has an account every other, how the hell he can keep up with every single one is beyond me x)

Yea still dev only so best not to mess with merging accounts to iCloud or making it your default account as Apple have said iCloud data is liable to be deleted at any given point during the beta period

Good, only need to wait till the release and then save everything to iCloud. Thanks for the info ;)

I used to do that but when i switched to Microsoft Exchange for gmail i converted everything to that and now with iCloud everything is in the cloud :D

Mine is windows 7 and iCloud and will probably stay that way as I don't trust exchange and feel its always wise not to totally rely on the cloud, no matter who's service it is. Tho the cloud will be my primary service.

I'm confused...I just had to re install iOS5 Beta 4....I wanted to use an iCloud back up file to restore....I went into iCloud on my iPhone 4, clicked through and selected my device and it shows everything I want to restore. They are all there but it says "choose the data you want to back up." Problem is this is the data I want to restore...i have a fresh OS and need my data back....any ideas?

I think you will have to run the "Setup" again, the only place that i saw that asks to restore from iCloud backup is on the initial IOS 5 setup.

Can I run setup again without reinstalling the OS?

Im not sure, The quickest way i know to get back to the setup is by going into Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings (This takes about 2 minutes depending on the device) then you will get the setup again.

This. i just did this, erased iPhone in less than 2 minutes, took me to the setup screen and did the iCloud restore via that :) simples
