I wonder if when IOS 5 is officially released apple will reset the developer iCloud accounts?

Posing that question has me worried. Any chances apple will do this? I've already been using my icloud email heavily, please tell me no! Resetting the icloud accounts would probably piss off a lot of developers.

Actually, resetting iCloud accounts would not piss off dev's as they have been forewarned. in each of the release notes it clearly states that iCloud data is subject to random deletion during the beta.

You're using the icloud email heavily at your own risk, so if you lose it, it's entirely your own fault.

Correct, were you trying to make me feel better? Cus I don't. :p

For me...

For me, icloud is not a big deal.
I'm still on 4.3.5 - but have been using gmail for contacts, mail and calendar.
With msexchange, it works beautifully. all my emails, events and contacts are synced automatically across all my devices..pc, ipad and 2 iphones..
So i don't think i'll be using it that much when i upgrade to iOS5.

I might look into the backups via icloud..

How to change iCloud email address?

First off, I LOVE iCloud. I will probably migrate my contacts, calendar and email from Google once the GM drops.

So I hope someone can help me figure this out. When I first installed iOS 5 beta 1 I was prompted to create an iCloud email address. In my excitement I accidentally spelled my name wrong. I am having a really hard time trying to either delete the iCloud address and make a new one, or fix it so it is spelled correctly.

Am I SOL? Does anyone have any idea how I'd go about fixing this?

well just trying to point out that it's extremely possible as they have forewarned. i'm making sure i make regular backups to my PC of all things as well as using iCloud until beta is over and i'm not using the email at all.

thing is, TONS of people using the beta won't have bothered to read that and i am so sure that there's gonna be a bunch of threads about people losing their data on here cos of it!

you're stuck with it, maybe when iCloud is officially released (which is not the same as GM hitting as iCloud and iOS5 are different entities), you'll be able to, maybe not in settings, but might have to email apple's CS lot.

we all are using iCloud

Today I bought an app from the app store on my desktop and iCloud automatically sent it to my iPhone. Without me needing to connect it to iTunes as prior. ;)

My phone was acting wonky today so I did an erase all content and settings and then did a restore from the cloud.
SO much nicer than having to depend upon my computer at home.
It took about 2-hours but all of my apps and settings were fully restored over WiFi.
Even my iBooks. Everything except my music really.
Weird that the books came back since they weren't purchased through iTunes.
The really weird thing is that notes that were entered just yesterday were restored even though the backup that was being restored was dated last Saturday.
Don't know what happened there but it certainly worked in my favor.

hmmm ok

Nope, that's iTunes in the Cloud, it's not the same as iCloud.........

So wouldn't that be iTunes in the iCloud? Not arguing here, but an app never downloaded automatically to my iDevice without my syncing with a cable and iTunes? Thanks for the heads up though.

nope, look on apple's own site, it's called iTunes in the Cloud. it's quite handy tho. Yes it is a feature of iCloud, but it's it's own entity. Like Photostream, mail, documents in the cloud.

Well, what do you mean about 'reset' the email acct. Does that mean that I will lose the email altogether? or will they reset it and I'll lose all the old emails that are sitting on the server? I just had to migrate an old email address to a new one, so migrating this one to another one won't be too hard since I've had practice at it.

Since I don't work for apple's dev team I don't know. The notes say iCloud data, so I assume it's emails, backups, photostream and documents. But it's possible it may be actual email addresses.

That's if they do it, there's no guarantee either way. I'm not fussed tho as I am still backing up to PC as well as iCloud and not using iCloud as my primary address yet.
