Out of interest, are there any advantages of using the Magic Trackpad over the built in ones in Apple's laptop range?

They are identical in function. Think of it as a detached laptop trackpad.

I have my MBP on a stand so that the screen is at a better viewing height. This makes the keyboard and trackpad awkward to use. So, I use the Bluetooth keyboard and, now, the Magic Trackpad. It's all about better ergonomics......

The trackpad is impressive - just not the best for all applications in all ergonomic positions.

I kind of disagree - I can put the pad and keyboard pretty close to one another, in a great situation, near the end of my desk to help promote good posture. I suppose you could do this with a mouse as well, but since the trackpad is fixed, it's kind of easier to not slouch or move too far over the desk...

[*]Install BetterTouchTools and customize a gesture to activate Spaces.

Wow - Better Touch Tools work fine (until apple can incorporate some of that functionality)

My only change - three fingers up for space, three fingers down for all windows.

While there is no 'gesture' for Spaces, if you aren't utilizing Exposé you could set Spaces on a corner... I set Spaces in the bottom right corner of Exposé and it's very easy with my Magic Trackpad. I've actually always set Spaces there since they introduced the feature.

I just use BetterTouchTool and setup a 5-finger tap as spaces. Works awesome!
