Who needs an Apple Watch when you could have this?

lmfao

I can't believe that this ain't a joke.

Did everyone watch the apple watch keynote? They said they strapped an iPhone to their wrists and set out miniturising it.

Do you think these guys did the same and said '******* it big is better'

They have the design sense of... themselves. I couldn't think of a worse insult.

It looks like something Atari would've introduced in 1981.

Hah. If you think that's a bit "out there" check this bad boy out.

Actually this is kind of a cool concept (even though I don't think for a moment that some indie company is going to pull it off). It makes some sense for your watch to be the hub device, since it's presumably always with you. It can then lend its functionality to any other devices you might want to use, whether it's a "phone" (really just a small tablet that can use the watch's phone functionality) or a tablet. There's no way that it's going to work well with today's battery technology, though.

In that YouTube video, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY she types a perfect message like that, that quickly. I can barely touch the touchscreen on the nav in my car accurately while the car is standing still, let alone in motion. Add a wobbly arm into the mix? Yeah, no.

This will be normal in 5 years, if not less. What a "Watch" is will be different than what we think of it today. Just like cell phones have grown over time and are the norm now, so will this.

Why does this really turn you off though? Think about it. It's only aesthetic reasons. Fashions change too.

This I doubt (very strongly). If anything I see wearables going in the opposite direction -- more like "real" watches and jewelry and less like a screen strapped to your wrist.

Except that "real" wristwatches have gotten bigger with time. The average wristwatch in the 50's was 32mm, now what are they? 44-48mm?

That has to be some kind of joke, who on earth would wear that thing? It's better suited for the air force to practice touch-and-gos on than anything they showed in the video.

True, but do you think they will continue to get bigger until we're all wearing iPads on our arms? Surely there's a point where they will become too big to fit into our daily lives.

My objections to this product are not just esthetic ones. I think wearing something so large on your arm would be annoying and get in your way, for relatively little gain in usability.

at one point it seemed every boutique and mall brand was swinging for +46mm but thank goodness that trend seemed to have lowered to 40 - 44mm for men.
