But you're getting games from one source, why not another? Just curious.

IMO, its easier to install and remove games and apps installed from the App Store than it is from another source (i.e installing Steam), without having all that uninstall stuff left behind after you remove an external program.

Granted, I might not be using my Mac to it's potential this way, but for casual games, its fine for me.
And since I'm not really a PC/Mac gamer, I like to be able to remove apps quickly.
I'm more of a console gamer when it comes to gaming.

Half Life is a must play, if you've never played it. It's a great experience even today.

Agreed -- get both Half-Life 1 and 2 (if GPU supports it). I really liked episode 2... just don't hold your breath for Valve to finish the story.

I play games only on OS X because I don't have Bootcamp partition on my iMac. Installing Windows would allow me to play so many games, but I have to get a copy of Windows first, which I don't think is worth spending money on if its sole purpose is just to play games. I was temped to get a copy of Windows 8 when Skyrim was $5 on Steam...

Oh, if the text is hard to read, the best thing to do is to lower your resolution. Its should make it a bit bigger text but, the text may not look super good, nor the gameplay.

I think this is some kind of bug. It seems that on Bootcamp, the text on Civ V doesn't look so bad on lower resolutions. I'm downloading other games to test this.

I too, proudly! I mostly play Borderlands 2 and Borderlands The Pre-sequel, but also picked up Outlast and Shadow Warrior for Mac and am enjoying the experience immensely.

If I update windows from 7 to 8 or even 10 unfder Bootcamp will I get/see an improvement in gaming, and will all the games that state that they run on upto windows 7 run OK ?

The improvements aren't that noticeable at all really. A fps or two here and there, and sometimes more on Win 7 vs 8. If you already have Win 7, you'll get to update it to 10 later anyways, so just stick with 7.

I now have a real PC, but for years I played pretty much exclusively in OS X, mostly WoW. There are many other games I'd have played on OS X but the gpu's in Macs are always underpowered so I didn't bother. I still play WoW and something not demanding on my Macbook Air.

Yea I am using 7 at the moment.

Thanks :)

No.

I used Windows on my Mac to play most games with the exception of StarCraft II which ran well enough in general though it did stutter quite a lot on some levels. It stopped working after Blizzard dropped support for Snow Leopard so this was the last time I gamed on OSX.

I have a PC now that has replaced my old Mac Pro.

Windows 7 can now be found for less than the cost of some games. http://en.mmoga.net/Software/Windows/Windows-7-Home-Premium-32-64-Bit.html?ref=392&currency=USD

Wow that is CHEAP for a license. Plus I think you can upgrade to 10 for free with 7 even. But is 7 even supported under the current OS X?

Bootcamp only. After I saw the night and day difference in Tomb Raider I gave up on OS X gaming. Here's my Mac Pro running the Unreal Engine Kite Demo. It just about makes it. The demo was built with the Titan X in mind.

Are you asking if bootcamp supports Windows 7? If so, the answer is yes. I had it installed on my iMac running Yosemite but then removed it later on.

I notice a lot of people talking about using Windows 10 with bootcamp on Macs but what of the driver support? Has Apple updated the bootcamp installation for various models to include Windows 10 driver support? How is it that people are using Windows 10 with bootcamp?

Does anybody have a link to Apple indicating support for Windows 10 and where to get the most current bootcamp version that has these drivers in it?

Back to the topic at hand, I prefer gaming in OS X myself so I don't have to wait on reboots and be separated from my normal apps, etc. by a reboot if I want to access them when gaming.

I have been running 10 since close to its public beta inception. I was running Window 7 Pro prior and thought, "what the heck I rarely boot into Windows anyway", and from my use I can say that everything I used in 7 is available in 10, such as core temp, speed fan, cpu-id, and the steam client. The sole purpose for windows on my macs is gaming with a minute amount of command line for debugging and I've experienced zero anomalies (aside from some GUI hiccups but its windows) or degradations while running 10. The current build is usable as a daily driver, I'm confident in saying that.

Actually, whether bootcamp supports Windows 7 depends on the Mac model. For instance, the latest Mac Pro supports only Windows 8 and beyond.

Check this apple page to be sure.

I've run Windows 7 as well in Bootcamp, but not in Yosemite. I was referring to "officially supported" by Apple. This is what I was referring to:

Care to elaborate?

The main complaint is the lesser performance of Mac ports running on the MacOS. There is also issues with less features (as compared to the PC counterpart) in some cases, restrictions on cross platform multiplayer and waiting for updates.
