I didn't know there was an option for unlimited data on the iPad. I do have unlimited on my iPhone which an AT&T rep told me is coveted because they don't offer it anymore. The downside is I can't tether with it. I'd have to give up my unlimited data on my phone in order to have tethering. Sorry for going off topic but I didn't know the iPad had an unlimited plan.

I gave up my unlimited iPhone plan to tether... I stopped using the iPhone for heavy web surfing when the iPad came out.

I still have mine, but I had to go through a lot of trouble twice when my cc was replaced by my bank because it may have been compromised in ATM scams. Both times I had to go through a hassle with AT&T but I got it back.

We have an iPad Mini & iPhone 5s on the old unlimited plans.

My iPhone 4S was unlimited as well, before the account was transferred to my work / corporate account.

I toyed with keeping the account, but based on my data usage it just wasn't worth it.

Still have mine, has moved to every iPad I've owned. Last month I picked up an AT&T Unite mobile hotspot device, moved my iPad sim into it and now have unlimited data for all of our devices--especially handy now that my kids now have daily homework online. I gave up my unlimited data on my phone last year since throttling basically killed it but will not give up my original iPad data plan unless they start throttling it as well.

Dumb question...how do you sell your unlimited plan to someone? Does ATT let your transfer the service to someone else? I have an unlimited AT&T on my iPhone I would love to sell. Are there buyers for iPhone unlimited?

I have unlimited on both my iPhone and the iPad air -- I've transferred the plan dutifully with each new iPad purchase. I certainly don't need the unlimited -- it is just the principle of the thing!

Curious -- what do these plans go for in terms of price? I may want to sell my iPhone one at some point. How is it done?

Yeah I still have it for my ipad, I see them going for 700 to a grand...wow...just got the new air but I can't keep up 2 data plans. If I had it for my phone I would keep it, but for the ipad, I might look into selling it, and use my phones data. Not sure about doing it online, probably in person at a Starbucks.

I'm undecided.

For those of you who mention you still have an unlimted data plan for your IPAD, have any of you tried tethering via the IPAD to other devices? I think I read somewhere that AT&T doesn't allow you to turn the tether option on in settings because your on unlimited data plan. Obviously a jailbreak gives you a work - around for that. Has anyone tethered their ipad w/ unlimited data? If so, has AT&T ever said anything to you or threatened to change your data plan like they did to iphone users that were tethering. I'm interested in purchasing one of these plans on ebay, and would like any insight. Thanx!

I got my original iPad 2 weeks after the 3G models were released. I may have used the 3G less than 50 times until last Friday when I upgraded. I am glad that I kept it now I get an unlimited 20MBS connection where ever I go.

I have an iPad 3 with AT&T unlimited data. But it's jailbroken. So I don't have a way of testing if tethering is enabled by default or not.

I just borrowed an AT&T iPad 4 from a coworker. She's letting me update it to iOS7. After I update to iOS7 I'll pop in my SIM card and test if tethering is enabled or not.

I put in my AT&T unlimited SIM. I clicked "Setup Personal Hotspot" and I get the following message:

"To enable Personal Hotspot on this account, visit http:www.att.com/mywireless"

I went to the page and tried logging in with my iPad phone number & zip code and it asks me to register. When I try to register it gives me an error message.

"The wireless phone number and billing zip code combination you entered doesn't match any entries in our files."

I ended up calling AT&T. The rep said they do not allow tethering with the grand fathered unlimited data plan.

iPad tethering is allowed with the $50 a month plan.

Thanx for all the info. So if someone was to jailbreak their ipad and install a tethering app an use it, what would the repercussions from ATT be? Would they threaten to take away your ipad unlimited data plan like they did to those they caught 'illegally' tethering with their unlimited data iphone plans? Just curious.

My iPad is jail broken and I enabled tethering. I use it when I travel. I share my unlimited data out to 6 different devices.

I have used GBs of data tethered watching movies and TimeWarner LiveTV. I have never received a warning from AT&T.

That's what I needed to know! Thanx!

Does anyone have one they're trying to get rid of? In need of one for travel.
