Do you all think Apple will offer the led notification light on the iPhone 8. That's one thing I miss from the galaxy's. But I definitely like the iphone overall.

I used to be an Android user years ago. I appreciated the LED notification light. But being an iPhone user that I have been for years now, I don't miss the LED notification light at all and I certainly don't think about it anymore.

Been wanting this for so long but gave up as it is not going to happen.

Do not understand why some do not want. Apple would. for sure, give the option of turning off.

I have heard some complain that it will keep them awake at night! LOL!

It was a much loved feature on my Blackberry

Apple does have the LED flash notification option only if the phone is screen down. That's the best option we have. As Willmtaylor pointed out, it's unlikely it will appear anytime soon.

There's been many, MANY, threads on this.

Apple is never going to implement a LED notification light in the form you recognize it as.

However, this is Apple.

Consider this, as I have suggested before. Apple is reportedly moving towards AMOLED screens. AMOLED screens have the capability of turning individual pixels on the display on or off. So, a portion of the screen can light up while the rest stays dark. This is not within the capability of the current screens Apple uses.

So, if you think of AMOLED screens being able to light up indivdual pixels and you think of notifications, what do you have?

A screen that displays the fact that you have a notification while the rest of the display remains off.

As has already been suggested, Apple might offer the feature to turn this on or off.

Now, I'm just speculating, I know nothing. But it seems reasonable to me.

Aside whether I do or don't think we need a notification light this debate has been best to death; there almost 100% likely won't ever be one as long as they can sell you watch to get notifications on.

I think this thread pops up every time someone switches from X phone to an iPhone. Give it a while, you'll forget all about it.
I've given it 4.5 years now. I still prefer the LED notification light on my HTC Touch Pro over using the camera flash.

No, sorry. Haven't forgotten about it.

what is this? 2005?
That's the way I feel when I leave my phone on my desk at work, walk downstairs and then come back and look at my phone.

It's so 2005 having to pick my phone up, and turn on the screen to see if I got a notification in that short amount of time. Because you know, I'm downstairs. Hard to hear a notification come in when I'm downstairs. Which means I have to physically check the damn phone.

And yeah, "checking your screen won't take any time at all". Sure. But why should I have to? What is this? 2005?

Imo the notification led screams HTC malfunctioning
I loved my HTC Touch Pro.

I'd rather spend $300-600 on something else. Besides, I don't like the look of the Apple Watch. :D

Like @eyoungren mentioned I think we will see a notification light type thing when Apple starts using OLED. They will leverage OLED as much as possible to get you to buy a new device.

I do not think we will ever see an actual LED.
I think as well, it will be another Apple 'wow' moment. Something so simple and immediately one of those things we didn't know we needed.

Apple will put it's own spin on it.

I'd like this feature on an iPhone, and do it miss from when I had an Android.

I work with machinery, and regularly leave my phone on the workbench while I am in a machine. It's handy for it to have an LED when there's notifications waiting. So I don't have to check the phone.

I wish it had one. I loved it when I had my samsung galazy s3 years ago. There was an app called "lightflow" that allowed you to customize what color you wanted for different notifications.

This was years ago, maybe now the new androids have that customization built it.

Anyway, I believe apple should add it. Others rip into me for agreeing in past threads.

Yep I used that app too. It was nice to not need to look at my phone to know whether I missed a text, phone call or whatever.
