New York.
I feel like we’re a rare breed Lol. This is in no way a bragging post. (Considering you can sell your phone every year and make a good chunk back to put towards the new phone)

Since June 2007 I’ve upgraded annually to the latest iPhone model. I just feel that since it’s the device I use the MOST that it’s important to have the latest and greatest. To me, every year there are several features that make upgrading worthwhile.

Phones I haven’t owned (opted for the other model):

5C
6 Plus
6S
SE
7
8

My MacBook's a refurbished 2014, my Apple Watch is a Series 1 (and was a gift), and both will continue to be so until they're unusable.

My iPhone is always the latest. It's my biggest hobby. I love Apple and I love tech. I'm incredibly fortunate(!!!) to have a job that makes it possible for me to do that.

I've decided to do the iUP this year, instead of dealing with selling my phone every year. I've accepted my sickness.

Lmao yeah my iMac is Mid-2010. Apple Watch is June 2015.

I want a new iMac, but refuse until they update the design again (hopefully this year). Deff will be getting a new Watch this year too if they redesign it. iMac runs PERFECTLY fine. Watch is super slow.

I’m on iUP, but still sell my phone privately and use the money to pay the balance of the phone and pocket the remainder. I still get to upgrade annually which is nice.

I don’t. A: can’t afford to (yet). B: I think it’s a waste of money if my phone’s still working perfectly fine.

I’m still using a 6S Plus, and won’t uograde until it’ll start showing its age.
Also still on iPad Air 2 which is still great, and still using my 2013 MBA.

I upgrade my phone every year. One phone a year, or 2 if you count my little flutters with android is actually really good for me. Back in 2013 and 2014 I was going through about 4-5 phones a year.

I've upgraded every year since I got the iPhone 4, with the excellent resale value you get with an iPhone in the past it wasn't too expensive to upgrade each year. However last few years the UK price has gone up significantly which made upgrading significantly more expensive and I came very close to not upgrading. I can't see the 2nd generation X having any upgrades that would justify upgrading from the 1st gen and even though I was always a Plus owner I'm not sure I want to go back to having such a large phone and get the X Plus.

I do but only the iPhone. I try to keep the phone as good as I can in a case and sell off when I get the newer version. I always have got 50-70% funding towards the new one.

Previously used to do the same with iPod touch series.

Macbook and iPads are other stories though.. don't feel the need to upgrade always. Never thought any recent Mac beats the 15" Mid 2015 Macbook Pro ..

I have upgraded my iPhone every year since 2007. The original iPhone right through to the iPhone X now.

This year might be the first year I do not buy a new iPhone unless the new version of the iPhone X has something super compelling for me to upgrade for. Of course, I say this every year and end up getting a new iPhone every year, so...I probably will get the "iPhone X Plus" version.

I upgrade my iPad sometimes yearly, and sometimes every other year. I currently have the 9.7" iPad Pro, and it is running the iOS 12 beta and it is working great and honestly is still fast enough for what I do with my iPad. That being said, since I opted not to get the 10.5" iPad Pro, I will be getting whatever new iPad Pro they announce next month. I really cannot wait to experience FaceID on an iPad Pro!

MacBook Pro's are a different story for me, just like @Sajal said. I love my 2015 MacBook Pro, and might consider getting a new MacBook Pro since they have the latest and greatest Intel chips in them, however, my 2015 rMBP still meets my needs fine so why spend all that money on the 2018 MBP's when I can use it towards the new goodies this September!

Apple Watch I upgrade just about every year. I went from a Series 0, skipped Series 1, got the Series 2, and now have the Series 3 GPS+LTE. I have to see what this "new design" is going to be for the Series 4, and depending on that I will see if I am going to get the Series 4 or not.

When I get a 4K TV I will get the Apple TV 4K or whatever the newest Apple TV is.

This is going to be one expensive September for me!

2g, 3g, 3gs, 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 5s, 7, se, 8, se, X, se.

After all these years, I just realized the 5/5S/SE is the perfect size mobile phone for me.

I upgrade every year or when a new model comes out.- iPhones,iPads, Watches, ATV. I will also upgrade my AirPods when they release gen 2.
The only item I have never swopped out is my MacBook Pro. Had that since 2011 . Stuck a SSD in it two years ago and it’s faster then it was when it was new. The only problem is that the SSD is full so I will be keeping a close eye on the next release of MacBooks

I do. Simply because I like tech. That’s it. I like to have some of the latest devices that have the newest hardware. And the same doesn’t just apply to the iPhone, it applies to other products as well, the iPad, Airpods, Apple Watch as well. Yes, I’m partial to Apple because of this, but I really do enjoy tech as a whole as others do on here.

It’s so interesting to me that you say that because the increase in speed, camera quality, water resistance, home button and speakers made me hyped for the 7 Plus. I couldn’t wait to get rid of my 6S Plus Lol. Oh and the new colors!

But I mean I feel that way every year.

I’m definitely opting for the X Plus. The “X-2” will likely be faster, have slightly better cameras, better battery life?, and I can’t think of anything else, but we’ll see what’s in store.

What I also do is that I don’t install the latest OS on my current phone. So when the X Plus comes out, I won’t put iOS 12 on my current X so that I can experience a new OS on a totally new phone.

Yeah I hear you. I’m itching to get a new iMac, but really want a redesign. I haven’t owned an iPad since 2010, but am really looking forward to these Face ID enabled iPads.

I did pretty much. The only phones I skipped were the iPhone 5 and 7. I bought the 5S and bought my first Android phone, the Nexus 4 that year.

I bought my 8+ this year in April with the idea that I will skip this years iPhone. I bought an S9+ in July.

Wow that’s interesting. I feel like I could neverrrrr go to Android Lol. It’s not even a thought for me.

Do you have other Apple products?

I do. I bought the original iPhone and that was what made me purchase my first Mac a week after buying that iPhone, a 15" MBP.

The last few Macs I bought were a 2015 15" MBP which I sold back in February and a 2012 MBP that I bought at the same time as the 2015. I now use the 2012 as my main mac and I have a 2012 i7 Mini. I don't like where Apple is going with their MacBooks so I'm not sure what I'll get in the future. My desktop is a Dell which has lots of ports and is expandable that I bought in February instead of a Mac. I'm letting my wallet speak now.

Since buying that first Android phone instead of the iPhone 5, I've bought either that years Note and or S series phones plus whatever iPhone is out so I've also owned the Note Edge, Note 4, Note 5 and I currently also have the Note 8. I'll skip the Note 9 this year since I just bought the S9+ last month. I have a few T-Mobile lines and an AT&T line.

I've had every iPhone except the original. I already had a smart phone on AT&T's 3G network when the original came out and didn't want to go back to Edge data. There have been a couple years where I was tempted not to upgrade but once the phones were announced I decided to pull the trigger.

Looking forward to the XL, X+ or whatever they're going to call the 6.5" X

iPhone:
turn them over and they all look the same
if it takes time out of my day to update, backup and in general mess with something it better be significant

-i owned a iPhone 3, 5, and now a 7
-size is important; my 5 was about the right size, my 7 is too large and dosnt fit in my had with a firm grip
-Apple is obsessed with making things thin, can they make the next version FAT and implement a swap able battery

iPhones, Ipads, and MacBooks are all premium items in a mature market, just no excitement of late given their mediocre performance

trillion dollar company...

Yeah, I do it every year for iPhones, iPads and the Watch. Most years, it has been quite cheap to do so, sometimes as little as $200. I think this year will require a bigger pile of toonies... I think I'll have to add about $1000 CAD. 2 iPads at $1000 each, 2 Watches... expensive fall coming up!

I don't really upgrade Macs that frequently unless it's something really worthwhile.

I do but this year I think you should shy away from the 6.5. Especially the Verizon version

This has nothing to do with the fact I intend to get one and am worried about supply.;)

I do. Since iPhone 3G i have upgraded it every year.
I don't need to change my Macbook so much, but my iPhone is the device that i most use everyday, so i like to have the latest (i don't need really because last year iPhone is more than capable but i like it).
