You will get more then that, I got 600 for my 256 7+ with apple care last year and I sold it way late. I sold my 256 X a week ago with no apple care + for 870.00
Ya It looks like they are going for over 800 minimum on Swappa, so I'd imagine after the new ones come out I can still get 700 or so.

What I'm worried about is the $700 iPhone Apple has coming out. If it's the same guts as an X with a bigger screen and brand new (LCD not oLED) that may kill the used X market...

$675?!

Nah man. I sold my 7 Plus 128GB last year in September for $600. It had AppleCare too. I want minimum $800 for my X with AppleCare lmao.

It’s so crazy to me that I can’t even fathom NOT upgrading lmao. Like, I just can’t use an old iPhone knowing there’s an upgraded model for sale. I’ve never owned an iPhone longer than a year.

That is funny. Sometimes I totally agree with you. Like why in the world would I care to save a few hundred bucks and have a lesser DAILY experience by using an older phone. Not to mention have an entire year of slightly worse pictures just because I wanted to save a couple of hundred dollars. (I'm fortunate that I don't need that money for other things.)

But a one year old iPhone is fine. And seriously my iPhone X is in perfect shape and ridiculously powerful with fantastic battery life and a great camera. So i have no idea how I'm going to react when I see the new phone on September 12.

Every year. If not every year then every other year but either way i'd still have a monthly payment so I may as well do it every year. The iphone upgrade program makes it easy and painless.

I upgrade every year and some times more than once in a year.

My first iPhone was a iPhone 5 and since then I have had every iPhone variant apart from the iPhone 5C, iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone X.

In addition to all the Apple iPhones, I have owned many Android flagships in between. Hehe.

To be fair, I cannot recall lasting even 6 months with a single handset since 2007!?

I've owned every iPhone (excluding iPhone 8) since day 1 in 2007. Selling my previous iPhone has almost always covered the majority of the cost of purchasing the new one. Not sure what I'll do this year. I'm looking forwarding to a larger-sized iPhone X but if they raise the price even more, I might have to sit out for the first time.

I upgrade when I feel that that the new device will offer a significant improvement over my current one. The only time I've ever upgraded after just one year was going from the 5s to the 6, because I wanted the larger display. I don't anticipate seeing any reason to replace my 8 Plus this year.

My first iPhone was the 3G. Since then, I’ve owned the following:

- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X

11 phones in 10 years lol. As much as I say I won’t upgrade to the X Plus (or whatever it is going to be called), I know I will. Why even kid myself?

Since June 2007 I’ve upgraded annually to the latest iPhone model. I just feel that since it’s the device I use the MOST that it’s important to have the latest and greatest. To me, every year there are several features that make upgrading worthwhile.

Same. I've upgraded to the latest model every year. And for the same reason: I use it more than any other device I have, so it's nice to be able to have to latest features, usability, and capability with something I use so frequently.

I have no need or desire to upgrade every year. I really don’t see the point but different strokes for different folks.

I agree with the different strokes sentiment. Some folks don't see enough value in getting the latest features and the most capable device annually, and that's fine! For me, it's a no-brainer for something I'm using on an hourly basis throughout the entire year.

I don’t. A: can’t afford to (yet). B: I think it’s a waste of money if my phone’s still working perfectly fine.

I’m still using a 6S Plus, and won’t uograde until it’ll start showing its age.
Also still on iPad Air 2 which is still great, and still using my 2013 MBA.

See above. True, it's not valuable to all people to have the most robust device every year. For me, and those like me, making sure the device we use so frequently for so many different things is the fastest, most efficient, and most capable device we can is a time saver and an improvement in so many ways; there's enough value there for us to make it a non-decision really. Upgrade and life is better.

Oh, and psst, your 6S Plus is showing its age. ;) Just teasing ... it's actually pretty cool that a 3 year old device is still getting it done for you!

Not worth to me either. I upgrade every three to four years.
-iPhone 3GS
-iPhone 5
-iPhone 7
-Next phone maybe in 2020

Upgrade my iPhone every year.

Pay for it full price on release date and eBay my old one.

Nets out to cost a couple hundred dollars a year.

To me, a faster phone and other little upgrades make the few hundred dollars worth it.

Only downside is if I were to break my phone, as I don’t have insurance....however since the iPhone 4 came out I have only had 1 cracked screen which was replaced for about 60.00.

IMO, if you hold on to it too long, the value drops and you end up not being able to sell it for anything...

Ideally, you'd want maximize the usefulness of a product throughout it's lifespan but Apple has made some of their releases "hard to love" notably, the 3G (Slow and Plasticky), 5 (Black Paint Chipping Off) and 6 Plus (ill-fated 1GB RAM).

- Original iPhone
- iPhone 3G
- iPhone 4s
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 6 Plus
<dabbled with Galaxy S7 Edge>
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 8 (Sept 2017)
- iPhone X (Dec 2017).

I think the 5s is the best one i've owned while the 8 Plus is a close second. The battery life on the 8 Plus is insane.

iPhone X is deff the best one I’ve owned. 6S Plus was very good too. They’re all awesome, but I’m really loving the X. Very little issues.

Of course X would be the cream of the crop now. but I have my tiny qualms which am sure will be resolved in future iterations. Also, 8 Plus' Battery life is better than X.

I've heard great things about 6S Plus and how reliable it was (and even until now & with iOS 12).

Then why did you buy the X 3 months later?

Because, you can appreciate a product and still know it's not the one for you. I knew this going in.

I'm still subscribed to the idea that I must have the latest and greatest, even with some compromises (battery life, no horizontal FaceID, Quieter stereo speaker).

Form factor is the real culprit. I just kept going with the Plus version because I needed the screen real estate & bigger battery.

So then the next question is why did you buy the 8 Plus if you knew you would replace it with the "latest and greatest" in a few months? ;)

You don't actually have to answer. I'm just teasing. I get it, gotta have the latest and greatest...

iPhone X
Apple Watch series 2 ceramic
MacBook Pro mid 2015
iPad Mini 4

I usually upgrade iPhone every year. This year that’s the only thing I’ll upgrade unless they come out with a new mini, which doesn’t look likely.

you're ok with spending upwards of 500$ for a new phone this year? Apple might kill resale value for the X hard to tell yet.

I feel like we’re a rare breed Lol. This is in no way a bragging post. (Considering you can sell your phone every year and make a good chunk back to put towards the new phone)

Phones I haven’t owned (opted for the other model):

5C
6 Plus
6S
SE
7
8

I've upgraded whenever my network provider contracts have allowed me to (some were 2 year contracts)!

My devices have been:

iPhone 3G
iPhone 4
iPhone 5
iPhone 6
iPhone 7
iPhone 8 Plus

:apple::)

Don’t see the need to upgrade annually. Depending on the features of the “X Plus” I might upgrade from my 7+...camera improvements are generally the biggest selling points for me.

I upgrade iPhone and iPad every year since their inception.

I don't think I will this year though.
  1. The iPP12 with Pencil is good enough work device.
  2. No Pencil support on the new X.

I have since the iPhone Upgrade Program started, but this year I’m considering not. Here’s why:

Last year, I have my 7+ for 14 months rather than the 12 and then upgrade like the program promised. Ok, so I paid let’s say $80 more (two $40 payments). This year, if the new one comes out in September again, I’ll have to pay off two extra months to get the upgrade which, because of the delay, should happen in November. That means I OWE the $80 I already paid last year to get a yearly upgrade, in addition to the two months delay in upgrading.

Maybe I’ll always upgrade in November from now on? Or... just skip a year and keep my X.

Kind of an oversight on Apple’s part, but who knows, maybe they’ll make it right (I doubt it, though).
