Okay since I just got my new iMac and I'm sure many others have as well I figured this would be a good topic.

Do you use the Magic Mouse and how do you like it? If not what mouse do you use? I tried it but it feels way too thin for me so very hard to get used to. It's like I'm uncomfortably holding my hand over the mouse instead of resting on it. Maybe it's because of my larger hands.

I love how it has a Trackpad like surface on top that you can scroll. Having used a Mac Trackpad in the past, no two finger right click seems like a miss.

I'm just looking for tips or maybe something I'm missing out with it vs a regular mouse. Is it something that I need to keep using for a week or so it get used to?

If not Magic mouse then what mouse? Right now using a Logitech M703. I bought it because it felt the best in my hand at the store but using it I found the battery life is abysmal even with the light off. It comes with a micro USB cable to charge and I could buy the $120 wireless charging pad but that just seems excessive.

I hate it, I use the Logitech G703 and for graphic design is great. I sold the magic mouse and boght the g703 and some good beers with the money 😎

I also have a first generation Magic Mouse that I bought 10 years ago. Works as beautifully as the day I got it. Also bought Apple’s rechargeable battery pack at the same time; still using the same batteries! Get about a month’s charge from them.

Love it (them - I have one for every Mac computer that I own)... IMO, it IS the best mouse around... gestures make it invaluable to me... and love the low profile... the only knock is the stupid placement of the charging port...

I don’t see why everyone complains about that. I guess if you had to use your computer 24/7 then it might be an issue. I figured out how to scroll but I didn’t mess with any other gestures. Maybe I need to look them up. The low profile is what I’m having an issue with. It feels like I’m having to uncomfortably push my fingers down instead of forward like a regular mouse. Maybe there’s a trick to holding it that I’m not getting though.

I bought the G 703… I don’t know why I said M. Maybe I was thinking about my last mouse because it was M something. What do you do about charging? Do you have the charging pad?

That’s the trick that you’re missing. I’ve used a Magic Mouse for years and years now, and I got one of those almost immediately after I got mine. It makes the mouse substantially more comfortable to use.

Who is this mouse for:
People who value an easier, faster and more fun operation on their Mac.

Who should keep their hands off:
Gamers who mainly use their Mac for gaming.

I like that:
First of all, it should be mentioned that I see the mouse more as a mouse / trackpad hybrid. I have very large hands, but I can still use them very well. I love to navigate my music, documents and pictures by stroking the mouse. It's very intuitive and great fun. The battery life is great, the design a stunner.
Even small half-life games can be mastered with it.

This is not so good:
The mouse's charging port is on the underside. It is not possible to load and use at the same time. However, this is due to the design.

Conclusion: If you are a Mac user and only spit out very rarely, go for it.

I hope you found my comment helpful.

I just picked up the Magic Mouse for my newly purchased MBA yesterday and needless to say, I am not the biggest fan of it. I want to give it some more time since I have the option to return it within the 14 day window.

My biggest grip seems to be finding the correct surface to use the mouse on. I tend to move the mouse around quite a lot when I'm working and I feel like the travel isnt quite what I thought it would be. I dont see myself using too many of the gestures as well and the mouse itself just seems small in my hand.

Any tips or tricks for me before I decide to maybe return it to Apple?

I’ve used different kind, but presently I use a gaming mouse pad. Works well.
I currently have a medium Steel Series gaming mousepad and I still feel like it doesn't travel well for my liking. Maybe Im just overthinking it and needs to try it out a little more over the next few days.

Remember you can adjust the mouse’s settings such as scrolling direction, zooming, track speed of the cursor, etc.
Yeah. Maybe I need to just play around with the settings more to find the happy medium for myself

I have the cursor track speed set pretty quick though not the fastest. I have it so moving my finger upward scrolls the page down (as if I was swiping the page upward like on a phone or iPad), and move my finger down to scroll the page upward. Two taps of my finger zooms the page larger and two taps again zooms the page back to normal.

Thank you for the feedback. I will test some of the different options later this evening after work and report back

If I had known about that accessory, I may not have gotten rid of my Magic Mouse (twice). My hand never felt comfortable with it.

This is my thought as well in terms of a comfort level I may have to get this in order to enjoy the Magic Mouse, again from a comfort level. Still working on figuring out the best from a functioning standpoint.

I tried these on one of the MM... helped to some extent with the grip, but the other 4 MM do not have these grips.

Thanks for sharing! Might be helpful for me using the MM

I use one! I have the white Magic Mouse 2 that I use with my 2012 quad-core i7 Mac Mini. I also have a first-generation Magic Mouse around that I got in 2010, but I eventually switched to the Magic Mouse 2 since I was getting tired of having to replace the AA batteries every two weeks, drying up the battery supply in my house. With the Magic Mouse 2, if the battery life gets noticeably low, before going to bed I hook up the Mouse to a Lightning-to-USB cable plugged into an AC-to-USB charger and let the battery charge overnight.

What stops me from using the Magic Mouse is actually it's tracking speed. I find it too slow, even at its highest setting.

I so want to love the Magic Mouse but find it to be not very good. I have to swipe up twice to get from the bottom of my monitor to the top? I mean move the mouse one swipe up and then another. I’ve tried playing around with the settings but it’s still not great.

The Logitech MX Master is much better.
