I like that we have a "choice" now, but I'm not a big fan because you can't really see the past conversations because the keyboard takes up like half the screen..
and if you're laying down in bed, it's pretty much impossible to have it in the normal way,
I wish there was an option where you could keep it the same..

I kinda like how the app store is, if you lay on your side, you can still keep the screen the way it is..

meh..I guess I just gotta get used to it..

I love the landscape. I use it to type then spin to portrait to re-read before sending. Same with the email. Since I have the 3GS the rotation works a lot better then before. Faster at least.

I also use my BB Bold as a backup since the battery in the iPhone drains so quick. I am finally quicker on the Iphone then the Bold now.

BTW. I hated iPhones for business until the 3GS. Finally a iPhone that works as fast as the commercials.

This is why i hate landscape keyboard and wish i could disable it without jailbreaking my phone.

Landscape SMS and E-mail made me love my phone again. I was getting really frustrated with the keyboard.. now I'm as fast as I was with my Treo.

Honestly, I never use landscape, but I'm glad its an option though.

so can you choose to only "inhibit" the texting? or will it do that even when you're browsing the net??

No. It disables auto-rotation in all applications. Including the camera. I only turn it on when I'm lying in bed and the screen rotates when I don't want it to. I have an SBSettings toggle for it.

thanks... i never knew about that..

Well, being on 2.2.1, I NEVER go into Landscape mode. I don't even use it in Safari, Calculator or iPod.

I love 2.2.1! The thing I DON'T love is that a lot of new apps coming out are not backwards compatible... like BeeJive IM with Push. Oh well... you take the good with the bad.

I have my 1st generation running 2.2.1 just because ONE app will not work correctly on 3.0. Apple turned down their 3.0 update.
