I never remember that I have it because Apple held out on us for so long.

Either way, I prefer portrait. Even if I remembered it was there I wouldn't use it.

I like that we have a "choice" now, but I'm not a big fan because you can't really see the past conversations because the keyboard takes up like half the screen..
and if you're laying down in bed, it's pretty much impossible to have it in the normal way,
I wish there was an option where you could keep it the same..

I kinda like how the app store is, if you lay on your side, you can still keep the screen the way it is..

meh..I guess I just gotta get used to it..

I use landscape 99% of the time. If I could lock my phone into landscape I would. I use landscape in safari 100% of the time :D

Ditto. I'm hoping for an option for a full landscape interface in a future update. It shouldnt take too much coding to be able to turn the icons sideways when I rotate.

Landscape is like the only "feature" of 3.0 that i use every day. It is a lot quicker to type for me. I just wish that the phone would know that im holding it in landscape so that it would open um the message app in landscape. The time it takes to rotate is kind of annoying. But other than that i really like it.

And not being able to see the whole conversation doesnt really bother be sine im typing and dont need to read the whole conversation as i type...

I do just about everything in portrait. Totally forgot about landscape. I can type perfectly fine on portrait.

Portrait for one handed situations like driving or a quick text, but landscape for those long emails or when I'm not in a rush.

I wanted it so bad. Now I have it, I never use it. I got so used to portrait.

I use it all the time in safari, I use it 50% of the time texting, it really depends on if I am walking or not. Or if I'm eating, landscape takes two hands, I don't always have two.

Hardly ever, I wish there was a way to turn it off, it gets annoying when the phone gets tilted and it takes a few try's to right itself back to portrait.

I used it in Beejive when it was in the 2.0 days but i got used to portrait in everything else. It is much faster but i'm not used to the look of it yet. As weird as that may sound.

i would love for that as i'm still on the 2g so it's very sluggish.

This is what I do, i just wish there was an update where you can just touch the convo and it hides the keyboard (like the aim app) because if you get a new text message from the convo you are reading it doesnt pop up until you hit done.

Adding landscape without the option to disable it was a horrible addition to the iPhone. I absolutely hate it. I hate doing opening an app, wanting to sit a certain way, then have to adjust myself because the app will rotate.

Landscape text and email is terrible and much harder to type with. Seriously, we all had the iPhone for a long time before 3.0.. you guys can't be serious that you could never get used to portrait. Portrait keys are closer, you can type with one hand, faster, etc. Anyone who has had an iPhone for any length of time and claims that they can type faster on landscape than portrait is a liar.

The 3GS processor speed and RAM helps rotating faster, it takes longer on a 3G to rotate.

It REALLY bugs me that Apple put in that feature whereby if you type a long message the space you're typing in grows (sometimes until it blocks the screen) Who thought that was a good idea? One of the most appealing things about the text app is being able to read past texts without having to go in and out of your inbox

BiteSMS (jailbreak) has the same thing and I REALLY wish Apple would put it in :(

I had an iPhone before 3.0

And I can type very fast in portrait, using one hand or two hands.

I also jailbroke my iPhone long before 3.0 and installed BiteSMS, because I prefer to type long messages in landscape. So yes I can type just as fast, if not faster, in landscape.

This is because I sometimes feel that the keys are too close together in portrait, and I make more mistakes (which are not always picked up by the autocorrect)
