I use it. Mostly to search messages so I don't have to keep scrolling up to find the part I am looking for (i.e. if someone sends me address, number, or just a keyword from that part of the convo).

I use it a lot especially to call and text people. I have a lot of contacts and it's easier for me to use spotlight to search for a specific contact that's not on my favorites list.

You don't have to use it.
And i dont use it!

I would like to disable it completely coz its annoying when im touching the screen to flip pages and for no reason it shows up by accident, and with the bug that make it looks like that its even more annoying, and only by restarting the phone it goes away for a while -

I use it every day on my own iPhone when looking for apps I do not use that often. And it is a huge plus when trying to find something on the family iPad.

Ah, you are talking about some ways of accessing the spotlight not so much spotlight itself. Yeah, those can't really be changed. The bug related to all of that is a weird one that I recall some people running into in the earlier days of iOS 8, but can't say it has been surfacing much for a while now in the forums.

I could not live without spotlight search. I use it primarily as an app launcher - swipe down and start typing first couple characters of app name. I sometimes use for other searches and is also good for contacts.
