This was exactly what happened to me... I got a 32GB iPod Touch 2G, and I loved it so much that it made me say, "Now I just want an iPhone."

I bought an iPhone a few months after, and I've been an iPhone fanboy ever since.

Same thing here. Got the touch, had it approx. 6 mos, purchased an unlocked 3G when I was in the Middle East, came home on leave and got a MBP, and then picked up the 3GS when I came home in October. I now also have an iPad and the new iP4. It's an addiction to good products.

My first ipod was a 1rst gen 8G ipod touch. Had that for about a year and then sold it on craigslist after picking up a 16G 3G iphone. Now I have sold the 3G on ebay and picked up an 32G iphone 4.

I had the original ipod touch before jumping to the iphone 2g

I bought a 3rd generation iPod Touch for my birthday last October and loved it. But I started to hate carrying a phone and the Touch, as well as being dependent on places to have Wi-Fi in order to connect to the internet, so I bought the iPhone 4. Now I just have to find a good home for the iPod Touch.

Same here I can't quite figure out what to do with it.

Was going to give it to the wife to replace her nano, but now she want a iPhone too.

Mabye I'll just erase everything except the games my 4yr old daughter plays and let her "have" it.

I don't really fit the description of this topic. But I WANTED an iPod touch. I was trying to figure out how to have a PDA, Phone, and Music Player without carrying around 3 devices. I originally was just going to get an 8GB Touch to use as a PDA, but then I'd have, the Touch, and iPod Classic, and my cheapo phone in my pockets. That seemed ridiculous. So I finally just faced the fact that I didn't REALLY want an iPod Touch. I wanted an iPhone, so I ordered one.
Now the 16GB iPhone plus the 160GB Classic should serve my needs.

I was on a 8gb 2nd gen iPod Touch for a year then jump to iPhone 3Gs for 3 weeks, then iPhone 4, big change! :)

i sold my 32GB 2g iPod touch for my iPhone 4. though i really wish they were able to bump it up to 64GB for this release. but yes, once on iOS, you really get hooked. it seemed pointless to carry around both the touch and a cell phone. i was able to get $200 for it so it only cost me around $100 for the upgrade to an iPhone (plus service, but i was paying for cell service already).

I too had an iPod touch first gen and an lg shine. It was just too much to carry around and I wanted Internet on my phone so I got an iPhone 3GS a few weeks after it was released. And I love it.

I have the 2G iPhone Touch. I love it, but I wanted adventure and my carrier offered a FREE Blackberry with the plan. I took the bait and after about a year, I was sorry that I was so much slower than I could be but yet (magically) had to pay as much as if I could do everything on my carrier. My Blackberry runs on Edge technology and my carrier thinks it was real funny to hook me on that and then nail me in for two years. My Touch blows the Blackberry away when I have wi-fi access. I am going to be getting AT&T and the iPhone as soon as the white one comes out. Better phone and the Touch introduced me to iPhone.

The free ipod touch when you buy a mac for college got me addicted. I had to wait to be upgrade eligible but iPhone 4 is on the way now!

I had no desire to get an iPhone. I had just extended my contract with Verizon and was quite content. I played with a friend's iTouch and just had to have my own. I got it and 4 months and 2 problems with Verizon (where I learned just how horrible their customer service is!!) and my husband and I both got iPhones.

i got the first generation ipod touch back when CompUSA was going out of business. They had it discounted by like 40% or 60%. at the time i wasn't looking at buying an ipod touch. but when i saw the deal i couldn't pass it up. when my blackjack II stopped charging. I bought the iphone 3g.

Yup, same here.

In July 2008, I bought an iPod touch from a guy off Craigslist. His son bought an iMac and got a first gen iPod touch he didn't need because he already owned an iPhone.

Then I started watching videos on YouTube about jailbreaking. After about 4 days in vanilla form, I decided to JB it and was astonished by its potential. I loved it! This was before the App Store had anything useful yet. I even streamed my videos and online channels using OrbLive. Long before Air Video. Summer of 2008 feels like yesterday, but in the tech world, feels like ages ago too.

Carried the N82 and iPod touch, but also hated carrying two devices. My mom wasn't into her iPhone that was handed to her by my brother because the ringer volume was too low even at max. Kept missing calls. In Nov of that same year, she went to Paris and let me use it. I JB it, and realized that I wanted it. When she returned from her trip, she just gave it to me and got herself a Motorola Z9. Signed a new AT&T contract and then used the 2G for 8 months as my primary before the data got cut off.

And around 2008, I hated Apple. But the respect and infatuation for Apple again started from the iPod touch... No contracts and a jailbreak community that saw the unlimited apps potential where you can turn it into almost anything YOU want it to be. I will keep my iP4 in vanilla form though. I got so spoiled by apps before, but realized I don't really use or NEED many of them. I am going for the minimalist approach now.

Yeah I bought an iPod Touch 32gb 3rd gen specifically so I would not be tempted to buy an iPhone on our corporate plan for the wrong reasons.

After using it for 6 months or so, I decided to jump ship after having 3 diff wm phones. Was a tough choice for me between this or the HD2, but I'm happy. I wouldn't bash an HD2 owner, still a great phone and I wish my screen was bigger, but oh well.

At least buying the iPod Touch delayed me long enough to get an iPhone 4 instead of a 3GS. I would have been royally pissed if I had gotten that one last year when it rolled onto our corp plan.

I'm a total screen whore and previous iPhone screens just sucked balls compared to everything else out there.

iPod Touch was also my gateway tech to my iPhone. iPhone 4 is my first iPhone. Probably won't be my last.
