Maybe I am running things below spec but I upgraded from 5 (on iOS 7) to 6+ (on iOS 8) and at least for me everything is working perfectly. I also read a lot about Yosemite but even that has been fine for me since PB 2. It just works. So am wondering what you mean (no pun intended).

Having spent just over $1,000 for my iPhone 6 Plus and $800 for my iPhone 6, models many claim the finest iPhones to date, perhaps the best smartphone of 2014, I find it terribly annoying that Safari crashes nearly every day.
When sending an SMS message immediately after composing and hitting send it locks up the phone.
When attempting to place the cursor in various websites to fill out a form or subscribe, the cursor fails to appear.
A complete hard reset is required to recover causing a loss of work if I'm writing and anyone of a number of text edit and writing apps I've used successfully for years hang, lock up, or display other annoyances.
I've owned every single new iPhone model from day one. I've been an Apple computer user since 1991, having bought countless new PowerBooks, MacBook models including Air and Pro some with retina and to date nothing has been as dreadful as iOS 8.x.x on my iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models.
Apple has replaced both, the replacements came equipped with their own set of issues, some the same some different. I'll wait for Apple to issue it's next update.
Fortunately my exemplary, reliable, fast and trouble free Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 models running Lollipop are wonderful primary smartphones. That's not a knock on Apple, just factual reporting.
I happen to enjoy both platforms, especially when Apple's phones work as advertised.
