The battery is more than enough for me, I'd actually prefer a thinner watch with worse battery (it's too thick at the moment!).

I have the 40mm Series 4 but is looking to upgrade to a 44mm. So I will upgrade to Series 5 basically to make it larger.
Sure I could have gone with a 44mm Series 4, but I prefer to future proof it by buying the latest.

I have a Series 2 and the microLED rumors are the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on the 5. Still might, but I'm definitely hesitating.

Don’t read too deep into the rumors. MicroLED isn’t even ready for the market yet. Will the watch see MicroLed? Absolutely. But as far as the Series 5 is concerned, it will continue to use OLED. MicroLed will probably will not be ready at least I suspect for another 2/3 years yet.

I have the S3 and probably will get a S5 at some point.

As with most of apple’s products, and most tech generally, it’s probably not worth the upgrade if you have the model that came immediately before.

I'm keen to upgrade my S0, but waiting to see what's shown at the event, just in case there is a S5, then I'll decide if the features warrant a purchase, or if I'll look for a discounted S4.

I have a S0 and a S2 so I'll probably be updating. I don't update the watch often but it's been a while and I would like to try out the bigger screen and I did like a lot of the sensor enhancements with the last updates so I'm pretty sure I'll pick one up this time around.

Ah good to know, thank you!

Original i intended to either buy a 5 or an additional 4 to not worry about charging time, but unless there is a big surprise, it now seems more likely I will complement my vivosmart 4 with a Garmin watch instead to get buttons, longer life and more workout metrics (I really regret selling my 735xt)

I don't think we'll have an Apple Watch Series 5. We might, however, get a spec bump for the Series 4, so this year we might be getting a Series 4s. But I personally won't buy it, I'm currently looking to purchase a Series 3 42mm to save some money. I might end up getting the Series 4 based off how much the price drops (assuming it eventually will) with the release of a new watch.

I'd definitely upgrade to the S5 if it has optical blood pressure monitoring (photoplethysmograph). That's probably the only thing, unless Apple has something else exciting up their sleeve.

Glucose monitoring is interesting, but I don't suffer from diabetes, so it wouldn't do much for me at present. Sleep monitoring is also interesting but not sure I'd upgrade just to track it any more than I already do (iPhone's clock "bedtime" function). I already know I usually don't sleep well...

Very unlikely to upgrade from my S4 if it's only a processor speed bump. Even a battery bump wouldn't be enough to get me from a fairly new S4 (mine lasts 36+ hours already). New case materials are great for those who want them, but I don't think I'd want to spend more than the stainless models cost on something that I replace every other year already. My S3 and S4 have been aluminum for that reason.

However, I'm trying to talk my elderly father into wearing an Apple Watch for the fall detection and ECG monitoring. If I can, then I'd give him my S4 and I'd replace it with an S5 (or S4.5 if rumors are to be trusted).

i say you should just the 4 if you aren't getting the 5. the 4 is faster, bigger screen and more current, as well as the ECG and fall detection.

I was considering it, it's just the price that I can't get my head around. I know it'll be worth it, but I can't justify spending that much on a watch. I'll wait for Black Friday and Cyber Monday to see the price then though.

sounds like a good idea. I currently have an S2 Rose Gold and S3 Gold and want to upgrade for the new screen size and faster processor

That screen size is tempting, I've heard the Series 3 is fairly fast though so I'll most likely be happy with it unless I get a taste of the faster Series 4 then want to upgrade. :p

The series 3 is great, but i've heard nothing but praises for the S4 esp from people that upgraded from the series 3. im sure the screen size and processor must make a huge difference only noticeable if you use it

which do you have now

I don't have one right now, whenever I buy one it'll be my first.

Based on what you know and you have the series 4 (like me) would you upgrade to the 5?
Based on what I hear I am sticking with my series 4 SS with cellular. Ceramic or titanium is not going to do it for me.

How bout you?

Definitely won’t be buying the 5, as I have a 4 already.

Unless there are major advances that would be beneficial to me personally, I’m currently planning on buying another at the 3 year mark.

A friend of mine still has a series 1 he uses every day.

EDIT: If you add a poll I’ll vote on it.

The only feature that would make you upgrade is glucose monitoring, but you don’t have diabetes??

I can see glucose monitoring accessories communicating with a built-in app to visualize it, but it’ll probably take a long time until the watch can do it by itself.

Again, no need for all of this if you’re not even diabetic. Just stop with the soda and you’ll be fine.

I think the good thing about Apple watches is they change so little you can keep them for 3 years. If my Series 2 lasted a full day rather than dying by 7pm, I’d keep it another year. This is the reason I’m keen to get the Series 5 now and mine is nearly 3 years old anyway.

I think you misread. I said it was interesting but wouldn't do much for me. Blood pressure monitoring, on the other hand, would get me to upgrade.

I started with a S3 and have zero regrets about upgrading to an S4. The screen size difference alone would have been worth it to me. I'm in the "maybe" category for the S5. I need a watch upgrade program like I have for my iPhone. :)

I currently have a S1, time to upgrade for the better heart monitoring and for the ability to use my Apple card on ApplePay. Plus I like the fall response too.

I'm tempted by the S5. I've got a S2 at the moment and I like the idea of a bigger screen and ECG monitoring (as a former paramedic they actually mean something to me).

I will upgrade only when the S5 gets a discount like in 8-9 months, I always bought my watches almost a year later they were out.

I bought my S1 three months before S3 was announced, then S3 five months before S4, and I just bought a SS S4 this June, I never paid full price, and sold all my watches with little loss ;)
