I bought mine just about a week ago before they dropped this bit of news. Why are people so upset? For me, it's only a .16 speed increase. I'm not even sure if that's measurable in real-time? 🙄 Just be happy with what you got and thankful that you managed to get the most sexy and sleekest notebooks available on the market today!😀

I have no regrets whatsoever on my purchase, I just wish that people would stop panicking like their world has come to an end or something.

After the update today, I am getting tired of waiting for SR MBs. I think I will end up buying this generation of MBs and live with it. It looks more and more to me that Apple is going to skip the new generation of C2Ds in the MB and instead wait until Penryn is available before updating them again. But I hope the MBPs get Santa Rosa... what do you think?

I don't believe Apple is going to skip the socket P Meroms to wait for Penryn. Unlike many others, I doubt we will see Penryn this calendar year and will instead see them Q1 FY08. With the recent bump to the MBs, there could be another update to socket P in Sept-Oct and still have plenty of time to update to Penryn around March 08.

Just a guess.

If you can't wait, buy it now. It's still a good machine, even if better technology is out there.

I'd be able to get it at the end of June, hopefully but that's over a month away and although the price drop is pretty nice, it's still not as much as I wanted.
I know people talk about how the expectations were far too high but I don't think that Santa Rosa was too much to ask for.

I'm currently deciding whether to just bite now or to wait it out even longer since I've waited this long already.
Besides, if at least one of the current rumours comes true and an new iMac is revealed, I might get it instead. 🙂

I gave up waiting today as well.

Around noon I ordered a stock 2.0 model. I was taught that ordering BTO increases shipping time considerably. Strange but Apple lowered the price on the low end model a second time. Original old price was 1027€. Tuesday they lowered them to ~968€. But then today another price cut to ~ 944€ (all these prices are with the 12% student discount). So that sealed the deal. At that price the Macbook is really unbeatable for value.

I found a pair of Kingston 2 gb modules for a pittance, about 105€, that I ordered as well. And a bluetooth mouse now I was at it. I know that in 3-6 months a definitely SR based possibly led-endowed MB will arrive, but I just dont want to wait that long.

Expected delivery monday 21st or tuesday 22nd ^_^.
