Kicked off the couch by my 7 month old. Went airborne, but still mint. eBay case, $15, pink and fabulooooous! :D

Biggest FEAR ever. Seriously.

Nothing like paying $800 for a 64gb iPad only to have it destroyed in a swift second.

I am definitely buying a case when it gets here tomorrow. (Can't wait!)

If this is seriously your biggest fear ever, you may want to consider putting the case money toward insurance. I use Worth Ave Group and have had great luck with them. A policy for a year is only about $50. Also, since you just purchased, you may want to consider AppleCare+ as an alternative option.

The iPad can still break, even of you have a case. Mine had a smart cover and a snap on back. Screen still shattered. IMO, insurance is a better investment.

I dropped mine a couple weeks ago and took it to an Apple Store. They gave me a new one for half price. I hated parting with the money, but thank God I didn't have to pay full price for another one. Now I walk around with it like it's the Holy Grail. lol

My wife left her iPad 2 on the top of the car - fell off in the driveway and smashed the heck out of the screen. Called several places around town, and they all wanted about $240 to fix it.

Googled and found Screen Tek in Texasfor about $150. Shipped to them, and they called, and said the LCD would have to be fixed too for about $70 or there would be blank spaces on the screen.

They did it all, and shipped it back and looks & works great. There are some scuffs on the corner and back, but that wasn't their problem.

btw, she now carries it in a bigger case instead of the Apple smart cover.

My gripe with Tragus cases has always been the exposed corners.

Agreed, two of the corners are protected on the viewscape but the other two exposed for its stand function. Might change to a back cover+ smart cover.

A little intense, but still very nice. Looks like good protection.

Girlie Factor x1000, but it does come in all colors imaginable on eBay.

I love it, not too bulky and protects all the important parts including the corners.

Haven't dropped my iPad yet, but my 1 year old son grabbed my wife's Macbook yesterday and knocked it onto the tile floor--about a 4 foot drop. Does that count?

For the record--it appears to be fine. She has one of those cheesy plastic shells on it, but that appears to have been enough in this case.

I have the Incase Magnetic Snap case, plus the black smart cover and it's a very nice combo.

Yeah, I do really like the viewscape and its look, I was just dissapointed when it didn't take the drop so looking into other cases at the moment.

I saw mine sliding off my bed about to fall onto the tile floor once. After some quick thinking and a heart attack later, I just barely saved it. It was hanging off the edge. I would tackle it to the floor to prevent it from hitting that tile. Mine is caseless, just the smart cover.

My iPhone does have a thin case on it, but its only a matter of time before it gets dropped. My last phone, a Blackberry, was constantly skipping across the ground whenever I tried pulling it out of my pocket. Maybe I just had less concern for that phone than I do for my iPhone, I dunno. I'm trying not to drop this thing.

My son dropped my iPad off the computer desk accidentally while playing one of his Wii games. Luckily it happened right after I put the new Switcheasy Canvas case on it. There was no damage to the case or my New iPad. :) http://www.switcheasy.com/product/CANVAS_ThenewiPad

That's a sexy case.... though my concern would be it seems to cover up a lot of the speaker grill?

I LOVE my Targus Viewscape (or something like that).

No drops yet... Can't even think about that kind of horror

Mine fell yesterday onto the floor, I now have a small crack in the glass in the top left of the bezel. It was in a targus viewscape but was open.

YIKES!!

I have the same case....Love it. I am religious about not carrying it around open though. Seems like if it were closed, it would have saved that corner from destruction.

I'm also sure you don't need me telling you that ;)

So sorry to hear about your drop :(

yep but thanx to the cover and the ipad landing on a pillow nothing happened thanx god

lol...mine "drops" every night onto my pillow before bed time browsing.

Yeah it probably could of been prevented had I closed the case I was using it at the time and thought it would be ok for a minute.

Dropped mine 2 weeks ago :(
Slid right out of a Twelve South BookBook case and onto the tile floor from about 2 feet and landed on a cornet then face down. Shattered the screen and dented one corner. Thank heaven for AmEx Protection. :)
