Joking aside, I was actually wondering what using two iOS devices at the same time would be like and if indeed it would work. I was thinking though of 9.7 Pro with my existing mini 2 (which I still love for reading, browsing and distraction free writing).
I think there is a big enough size different to justify using both if you already have one. The mini will be much easier to use on the go, for certain games, and reading around the house.

2gb of ram
underclocked CPU
$1,000 after tax here in Canada

I think I might just get an air 2 instead for half the price.

Surface Pros from someone who uses one:

pros:
* does a hell of a lot more than an iPad
* isnt overpriced like an ipad

cons:
* runs windows and is buggy as hell

yeahhhh that's a pretty big con right there!

I am pretty excited. I already bought my pen in preparation for it. I liked the features of the larger pro, but I wanted the portability of the standard size. The 2gb of RAM thing doesn't really bother me much since I tend to upgrade every year so future proofing isn't super important. Also it is still pretty fast looking at the benchmarks.

Actually, although it pains me, the more I think of it I cannot justify going from the iPad Air 1 to the Pro since I don't care for the pencil and keyboard. Maybe I should just move to the iPad Air 2 instead since it comes down so much cheaper

If I already had an Air or Air 2 (my wife has an Air 2 and it's a suburb device) I doubt I'd upgrade too. I'd look at the new pro if I decide to ditch my Linux laptop and use iOS as my primary mobile device. The 9.7, better speakers and pencil support makes it a compelling upgrade over my Mini 2. Then again, would I actually benefit from those features or would I be better off with an Air 2? Food for thought.

I'm getting it- I may even preorder. I was planing on keeping my iPad 4 as it still works well, but my weakness has gotten the better of me and I'm definitely getting the 9.7 Pro sooner than later.

Well, with $100 off the iPP 12.9, I bought one this afternoon, so I guess I'm not pre-ordering the 9.7.

Did people think it would have the same ram and same speed as the 12.9?

RAM, I was kinda hoping, but also not trying to assume it would. I actually thougt the CPU would be clocked lower than it was. I was expecting ~2Ghz. And people were telling me that was too high (when it was still the Air 3).

Honestly though, they have me over a bit of a barrel, since I've become so accustomed to the Pencil when developing apps (and using it in other apps on the side) that it is basically the main reason I'm upgrading, but The 12.9" is too big to be my main tablet.

Alright so I preordered through B&H, don't know if it works like Amazon were you always get the stuff or they may say "oh sorry you pre-ordered but we went out of stock on the FCFS basis", but being an international customer they charged the CC already.
Got the pencil as well which is the biggest reason for me not to get the Air 2.

Upgrading from the infamous iPad 3, wanna try me some multi-tasking, AirDrop and every single feature I've been missing.

I'm off to hunt me a cheap full case, should be plenty already on Amazon, saw a few 10 minutes after the event ended on Monday.

PD: Hopefully many people just buy an Air 2 or a Pro 12 so I can get this underpowered, underclocked, low RAM, overpriced, crappy resolution, no 3D Touch, protruding grandpa's camera, 1990's USB 2 laughable attempt of a tablet ASAP with this preorder. Can't wait to hold this beauty on my hands :)

/EOF

As I'm upgrading from iPad Air 16GB/iPad 4 128GB, yup quite excited. Already pre-ordered the 256GB LTE from B&H Photo (no tax in CA).

I saw some on eBay earlier, but I can't help but think that they are iPad Air 2 cases or do you think the manufacturers already knew about the 2 extra speakers, etc.?

I'd really like to get a cheaper alternative to the overpriced apple silicone case and Smart Cover (it adds up to almost £100 over here)

Multi-tasking. Pretty useful since Safari always seems to refresh tabs in background at exactly the wrong moment for me.

I have an air 2 and don't seem much reason to upgrade since my iPad is mostly for web browsing, games, shopping, ect. I an e never used it for work since it's not needed for my line of work in healthcare.

It will be interesting to see how any of that changes when I start my masters degree programs soon, but I am sure my MacBook Pro will be used for most of that.

I'm going from an Air1 to Airpro 9.7.. I think it's enough of an upgrade to justify the 350$ new dollars (minus what I sold the air 1 for)

form factor, lighter thinner
touch id
2GB ram
128gb option
major camera and video upgrades
screen, brightness, reflectivity, color gamet, wifi speed, apple sim,
9.3 all functions available including split screen
alternate keyboard options
works with pen

that said, 400$ is 400$ but it's a write off for me (doesn't mean free of course) and I think to get onboard with new every couple of years at least.

DAMB, I forgot about BH or Adorama for taxes.. what an idiot.. time to cancel and rebuy from OOCA

This is EXACTLY the upgrade I was looking for, with added features to boot. I'll be purchasing a few paychecks from now.

I bought myself an Air 1 shortly after they came out and have been using it ever since. In the interim, I've purchased 3 Air 2 LTE models for family members (the wife, niece, and nephew). So right now, everybody has a better iPad than me!

I'm excited for the 9.7 Pro, especially for TouchID, the screen, and improved speed. The added pen and smart keyboard support are bonuses, and if they work well with MS Office Apps, I will very seriously consider dumping my 2011 MacBook Air and instead use the iPad Pro as my travel and client meeting platform.

Edit: Just got my shipping email and UPS tracking number. Delivery is scheduled for Monday March 28! :D

Is the touch ID quicker than the AIR 2? How much? a thousandth of a second? A hundredth?

I can't wait for mine to arrive! Upgrading from the original iPad Air.

BTW, keep the 2GB puns coming, people. It's wonderful entertainment. Apparently Apple doesn't know how to build a high performance device, huh? ROTFLMFAO. Check the benchmarks, geeks.

I was interested in replacing my Air 2 in order to get the pencil. But after trying out the pencil on tbe 12.9 at the Apple Store, then looked over at the Air 2 models, suddenly it looked like the mini.

For drawing, I couldn't pass up that larger surface area that would be more comfortable to work on. It would of been nice to have the new display tech in the 9.7, but I think the 4GB of memory is a good trade off. Also, the fact that Best Buy and Staples has a sale going on helped too.
