It's amazing to me that people blame Apple for problems like this. In reality, the chips aren't faulty due to anything Apple has done.. Apple has actually replaced every faulty component, even if the unit was out of warranty.

Reminds me of my old Dell E1705 with a seriously flakey GPU Dell would never fix or replace.. or my (at the time) 2 year old Mitsubishi Eclipse with a crank-walking motor, that Mitsubishi wouldn't even acknowledge.

The bottom line here, is that you purchased something from a company that BACKS their products. What, really, do you have to worry about?

so your solution to nVidia's one screwup is to never support nVidia again, and you think everyone should do the same.

reality check: How many major graphics vendors are there? Do you like monopolies? Why do you have a Mac?

The laptop I buy will have the new ATI 4000 series mobile video card that just came out. I hope Apple offers one in the next gen MPB 17. I can get my laptops for 10% over cost from my employer, so I have lots of choices.

fully satisfied with your purchase?!

man i hate these fanboys....

Lol. No. Need to rename this place the "Bitchin' Board", because if you're a satisfied customer, you're automatically an Apple fanboy.

I am satisfied with my purchase. I've never encountered the RAM issue, never encountered the external display issue, and only once encountered the sleep/wake issue, and only once encountered the charge light issue. But I also understand that a perfect laptop doesn't exist. Every piece of technology has it's flaws, otherwise, there would be no need for patches, updates, firmware upgrades, etc.

I'm probably just lucky and got a really well built MacBook Pro, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm a satisfied customer, and not a fanboy. ;)

You should have made an option for "It doesn't really matter". Its not an issue solely w/ Nvidia, what would you be saying if ATI cards had issues?
Its simple a bad batch of cards, it happens get over it.
