Who's on board with me to buy the iPad mini?

I'm going to buy one. I don't know why because I do have iPhone 5 and iPad but I think the smaller size could make it worth it.

I will admit, I wish it had retina display, A6, and 1 GB.

If it doesn't perform as good as my iPhone 5 I will probably return it but if it's as smooth then it's a keeper.

$329 isn't bad considering people pay $749 for iPhone 5s

Are you on board? I'm expecting lots of negativity but I want to read people who are buying it views.
 
nope, i'm never buying a non-retina device

however i think non-retina devices are not bad at all

apple spoiled me

I'm in as well. It will replace my crappy old GPS in my car and my kindle.
 
It definitely won't perform 'as good as' your iPhone 5 because it has a slower processor with weaker graphics (same as iPad 2) but with slightly more pixels to push. But is it good enough? Sure yes. But it's a big no for me with no retina display.

Ahhh that really bites. Any clue on how the display will look? Like a 3G S?

For resolution it's the SAME as 3GS (same 163ppi) but with better contrast etc. (wait a minute...is it an IPS screen???)

Do expect grainy texts but not as grainy as iPad 2 (132ppi)
 
Nope. Not with that low resolution display and 2 generations old processor coupled with a $329 price tag. Come on Apple. I'm sure the loyal followers will eat this up but please. Should be $199 at most.
 
I'm in for the size and the Apple ecosystem, it fits perfectly between iPod touch and iPhone super-portability and the great real estate of the larger iPad. Each has its place for me in my use of computing gear. I'm so happy they have brought this thing to market I could jump over the moon right now. It was sensible to put the features and the price points the way they did. Consumers will love it, analysts will love it once they think it over, shareholders will be shareholders, i.e. the rules of the casino never change, there are winners and losers on every bet. Anyway my mini pre-order will be right in there on day one. :cool: :) :D
 
im torn between this, i always wanted a smaller iPad and even sold my 3rd gen for one due to rumors, then hearing the old specs and no retina really shot me down. I never complained about the iPad 2 screen so this shouldn't be bad, but why not add the A5X at least, did you have to go back down to A5? i worry that it will lose compatibility with new os in a year due to old hardware. It's like apple did this just to test it out and see how it sells then do a nice upgrade next year for it.

I really want one bad but what's really bothering me is no retina display
 
My 11 year old daughter has a dumb phone and an upgrade in November - she doesn't need an iPhone (or any smartphone for that matter) - I was going to use the upgrade and get an iPhone 5 - put her dumbphone back on the line - and sell it to get her a iPod Touch 64GB for Christmas - Now maybe I'll consider the iPad Mini WiFi....

Not a bad plan... - essentially a free Mini
 
Nope. $429 for a smaller iPad 2 (I always go for 32gb). Id rather save $179 and can a Nexus 7. Apps might be a touch better on the iPad, but the core apps I use are just find on Android.

Price is way too high and the specs way too low for me.

The A5X was only needed to push the large retina resolution. A A6 is better than an A5X at the iPad mini's resolution.

i know it's better but we assume they didn't add the A6 due to the lower price. I fear this will be obsolete in less than a year, when it comes to new os features, and that's the worst part. I was looking forward to roll with one of these for a while.

That's about as silly a statement as I've heard - For someone who has made a conscious decision never to own an iPad - why the hell are you hanging around the iPad forum?

If you are proud of yourself for your perfect timing in not having made a purchase before today's announcement - and are preparing to enter the arena of iPad ownership - boy what a waste - you missed what could have been a lot of fun over the last couple of years...

Because if you timed it right - buying and selling, the 4th generation unit wouldn't have costed much at all....

Just a weird comment.
 
If you told me that apple would be releasing the iPad mini I would of beat the living crap out of you. Now looking at it. I kind of want it instead of my iPad. And to all those who say it has an old processor. What are you going to be doing on it? Editing videos? PhotoShop? Um probably not. That's why God gave up desktops and Laptops. The iPad should never replace those products.
 
Im buying two! :D One is going into the dash of my 1970 mustang as an entertainment system and GPS and the other is going to be used for college notes and things of that nature. I actually went to the dark side and bought a galaxy tab 2 7.0 for the mustang but I absolutely hate it! Most of the reason is because its such a pain in the a** to update music. Now with the mini and icloud that will be solved!

I want to let you in on a little secret. When it comes to Apple, everything a year later is obsolete by the OS standers.
