Wow, you never moved to OS X in all these years? If you don't mind me asking, what web browser are you using? OS 9 is still a serviceable OS except for the fact that there isn't a single good modern browser available for it.

I have the same model G4; that system will run up to 10.4 without breaking a sweat. With a little upgrading it will run 10.5. too, which is what I have done.

No, I never moved to OS X. The thing is, I think it was quite a while before OS X really worked well with a lot of audio hardware & software, and I think a lot of musicans waited a couple of years before going over to OS X, when it became advantageous to do so. By then, I just sort of thought, what's the point in going to OS X before I get a new machine, my system is 100% stable, working and does the job really well, so why mess about? I don't use that G4 for anything web related at all, it's sole purpose is for making music, it's not even connected to the net.
Of course, when I do get a new machine, I will use it online a bit as we have a wireless router at home, but probably only for software updates, and the odd download of synth and effects plug-ins. My (not Apple :() laptop will do for email and browsing on the sofa! Mind you, if those rumours of a cheap Apple netbook turn out to be true....

The question I have now, is when I do pull the trigger on the Mac Pro, and make my leave of the thread, what will I do with the G5?

I was thinking of selling it and getting a new Macbook Pro, probably smaller  (from the 17" lover that I am) because I don't cut on the move anymore.

Or, like others have said, keep it and use it for a media server or something.

Personally, I love the machine, but I know that an iMac could do the job of media server/family machine perfectly and take up less space.

I don't know. It'll be three or four weeks before I pull the trigger, so I sit on that.

I still have a dual 2.7ghz. But, I don't use it and frankly, I have no idea what to do with it. I have no use for a server or anything, I suppose I should probably let it go.
