Battery alone makes it worth it!
Agreed. The battery is just ridiculous. Apple really wasn’t over promising.

Do we really think we’ll have a major design change during an “S” cycle? Usually we don’t see design changes then. Isn’t it more likely we’ll get rid of the notch with the iPhone 12?
This is why I'm waiting for a 2020 upgrade. I can live with the beautiful photos taken of my XS Max 'till 2020.Apple held back alot with this update so that is why i will wait.
- 120 hz display
- 5g
- reverse wireless charging
- better edgeless display (the iPhone has too thick bezels)
- do something about the notch.
- better bluetooth codec support (since Apple removed the headphone jack, atleast give us all the codec support?)
- more ram (give us real multitasking)
- usb-c
These are easy things to implement in the iPhone 12 based on what Android phones have right now. So I am a bit worried that if I spend $1500 on an iPhone Pro 11 Max, i will buy a new phone the next year again.
Well if I had an XS I’d also hold on to it, at least you already have the computational photography features. This is why I'm waiting for a 2020 upgrade. I can live with the beautiful photos taken of my XS Max 'till 2020.
Agreed on most points. But the night mode as shown in this post has really impressed me.Apple held back alot with this update so that is why i will wait.

4G has been stable and good for nearly a decade now. Time to move ahead with 5GDon‘t know why everyone’s hyping 5G up, it’ll be years before it’s actually decently usable. Heck, 4G is only just acceptable here!

It depends on which country. In Switzerland, we already have 5G in some areas, and it's due to grow within the next 1-2 years.Don‘t know why everyone’s hyping 5G up, it’ll be years before it’s actually decently usable. Heck, 4G is only just acceptable here!
Right there with you. Sure there are obvious improvements like the camera and it being slightly faster, but I’m really glad I was able to not give in and upgrade this year. Next year will be a much better upgrade.Nothing enough in real world use w/ 11 or 11 pro vs. my X.
Take a new look sept. 2020.
I couldn't resist jumping back to a big phone again with a huge battery and upgrades I'll enjoy everyday.
I’ve had the X since launch. My Applecare + is expiring in November and I was also enchanted by the cameras, better battery, and faster speed of the iPhone 11 Pro. Yet, I just kept thinking the same things: I’m going to want to upgrade to the 12 next year (assuming the redesign isn’t ugly now that Johnny Ive is gone) for all of the features missing in the 11 Pro such as 5G, reverse wireless charging, etc. I feel like Apple held back a lot of great features for this year. The thing that helped me decide was going into an Apple Store and playing with an iPhone 11 Pro. At the end of the session, I didn’t feel like it was all that different from my X. I don’t see myself shooting a lot of shot-reverse shot videos or night mode photos and FaceID seems to be just speedy enough for me.
That said, if Apple gives a Black Friday discount or something, I’ll probably want to buy the 11 Pro again. I got the new Apple Watch 5 from the 2 series and that was a huge improvement! So I guess I satisfied my Apple addiction for now.![]()
If you would have just turned on the flash for the X it would be comparable.I upgraded from the X to the 11 Pro Max for the battery, bigger screen, and the cameras. Haven't regretted it at all, in fact, I'm even more impressed by the new phone than I thought I'd be. Check out the difference in this shot I just tried on both phones - maybe an extreme example but it gives you an idea of the massive improvements Apple has made to the cameras on the iPhone. This alone made the upgrade worthwhile, IMO. I didn't do any post-processing on these images - this is how they looked, as-shot.

Uh, iPhone 7? Apple is obviously on a three year cycle now. Just like how there was no 7S I doubt there will be a 11S.Do we really think we’ll have a major design change during an “S” cycle? Usually we don’t see design changes then. Isn’t it more likely we’ll get rid of the notch with the iPhone 12?
