i just wonder whats a better value refurbished 2.2 ghz 120 HD for 1449 vs 2.4ghz 250 hd new for 1850$?

I read somewhere that the new MBP has LESS CACHE.???

what do you think is the better value
refurbed 2.2 120 HD for 1449, or 2.4 ghz 250 HD for 1850? new education price.

I figure that 400$ could be my new logic studio?

Im still on the fence with this purchase. i wish they weren't facing a redesign so soon.

I think the education price for MBP 2.4 ghz with 250 HD is great, 1850:), but I really wanted to get a faster FSB, and get as close to 3 ghz as possible. So that keeps me waiting a bit. 1066 fsb is closer to a new desktop. SATA HD would be nice to.

last year my GF bought a 80 gig ipod for like 349 then two months later the 160 gig came out for cheaper, that sucks, I dont want that to happen with this computer.

Thats exactly what I'm wanting a speed of a desktop on a laptop. A 17" hi res 1066mhz front side bus is what i'm aching for and 800mhz RAM wouldnt hurt either.

Yeah i guess, I loved the SR MBP but I only had it for a week. I think I love my Penryn a lot more.

Value? The refurbished (or I'd like to call: Repackaged new) one.

Also the low end has less cache because it's a mainstream model processor T8xxx series. Overall the new ones have better heat management and also the cache is more complex.

Made the purchase I coldn't go for the refurbished when I could get new for only 350 more.
2.4ghz 250 HD, what really sold me was tests that were done that showed this new 2.4 ghz was just barely seconds behind the old 2.6ghz santa rosa despite less cache.

pretty sure they are both santa rosa machines...
Good for clearing this up - lots of people don't understand.
you guys are treating your MBPs as if they were cellphones..
oh well, if you're just surfing the net anyway..
then it won't be hard and tedious to transfer any files at all every six months:D:D
Haha you know what... Time Machine has made the "machine swapping" process VERY easy! But as far as swapping computers, I do it every 12 to 18 months. By selling my computer a year or so after I buy it, it doesn't devalue THAT much and it only costs me a few hundred bucks to get the newer version. If I sit on it for 4 years, then buying the next computer is more of "an experience" and a big deal/.

I'd like to be among those upgrading to this newer MBP...256mb VRAM would be hella nice, as would the huge hard drive. But the machine I'm typing on (my only machine!) was the last revision, and ought to be my workhorse for at least another good four years...

With Apple it's either new machines or old machines that are cool, the revisions before last always seem dull by comparison. But my professor's TiBook looks like a work of art next to all our Powerbooks/MBP's. :)

Yeah Time Machine is nice.

But you sell your computers???
