People fawned over the performance of the 7 a year ago, too.

Is it no longer beast enough? And if not, why should I trust that this years phone will be the beast of everyone's dreams?

Or should I just always buy the newest thing so that I am the beast and can finally fill the emptiness in my heart?

The person he is replying to has bought EVERY annual upgrade since the 4s. If they though that it was worth upgrading from the 6s to the 7 (I didn’t, and I know other people who didn’t as well), then why is 7 -> 8 suddenly not worth the upgrade?
Unless it’s just upgrade fatigue or bad memories of the 7 not being enough of Ann upgrade from the 6s and not wanting to repeat the mistake.

You are fooling yourself if you think that you will be satisfied with your "lesser device" after the X hits the street. Give in to your desire. Be real with yourself. Stop beating yourself up over it and embrace it.

Every single year a new phone comes out, commit to it and own it. If you hate it, sure as the sun rises there will be another shiny object to fawn over in just a mere 12 months time.

I saw someone still using a 6S and had to restrain myself from spitting on them. The non upgraded life is clearly not a life worth living. All hail appl...

sorry my battery died.

Too true. And fair enough... my 7 is still screaming fast.

Is it no longer beast enough? And if not, why should I trust that this years phone will be the beast of everyone's dreams?
Possibly the answers to the universe reside right next to these questions.

Or should I just always buy the newest thing so that I am the beast and can finally fill the emptiness in my heart?
It may indeed fill the emptiness in your heart. You will only know if you purchase it. I on the other hand need it for app development testing. It will fill the hole in my wallet ( after it removes a very large chunk out of it, admittedly ).

I‘ll give my jet black 7 to my sister under the condition that I‘ll get it back once she upgrades in a few years. Then it‘ll be my backup for as long as it works. Best iPhone I had, by far, I just love the grip of the glass-like polished aluminium and the deep, shiny black colour. But sadly no portrait camera. The tech of the X inside a jet black alu body would be my ideal iPhone; and no, I don‘t care for wireless charging at all.
