LOL...you know, it's bad enough when people "take up sides" for companies that are publically traded, they could possibly have some stake in a given company's well being. But this thread is retarded to the point of being side-splitting funny! Crying and complaining over which free program they have nothing to do with is worse. I can't wait to see what pointless, mind numbing argument about nothing is next. Probably whether or not I'm a troll or how I used some word out of context, no doubt.

Oh yeah..."Why All this Hate for "Rock"?". Because apparently more two people can't use this site without acting like 12 year old girls who just had their first taste of Arbor Mist, that's why.

You realized you just ranted about how stupid it was to have an opinion on something.

Also may I add that your rant, is in fact, an opinion.

Man a bunch you are a bunch of babies. WHO THE HELL CARES??? Do you people have no life if your arguing over free software??? That goes for both sides.

If you dont like Rock, dont use it. If you dont like Cydia, dont use it. End of. Dont keep bitching back and forth cause "it sucks"

GROW THE F UP

does that mean you hate rock too?

I have Cydia and Rock installed on my iPhone 4. I'm not a Rock fan at all. Sometimes it's merely a necessary evil if you (like me) really want certain apps.

I do have a big objection to apps that do not completely uninstall. It's like having Windows. Programs always leave crap in the registry and elsewhere. Rock leaves crap when you uninstall. This is okay if you want to to a complete restore, but there are plenty of times that we can't restore and then re-jailbreak. Or don't want to go through the arduous process that is often times required. Just delete the app completely. There's always the option of going into SSH and look for all the files, then hope you can delete the right ones. But why should I have to do that? A properly built app with a proper uninstall is ideal. Rock is not such an app. If you don't care, then fine. I do care.

I've yet to have one problem with Rock, so don't understand all the hate. Only problem that has poped up was created by me(don't ask it was a stupid mistake), I asked Rock customer support to help me and they were on top of it within a day. I am now 100% up and running.

Earlier in this thread, I mentioned how Rock Your Phone customer support never responded to my email about not being able to login to their website so I could activate my apps. I ended up emailing them again over the weekend and got a response and my password was reset and I was able to login.

It's possible they never got my support email although I am nearly positive I sent my login problem using their onsite form.

I will no longer say anything bad about this company other then their forcing Rock on every phone just to use their apps.

Why would I install LockInfo via any method? It's a buggy, overpriced app.

I guess $5 is a lot to a bum living in a cardboard box.

They fail to realize they've screwed their phone up so much before installing Rock, then blame Rock for a problem they caused.

I installed rock on freshly jailbroken phones with no other programs installed other than cydia.

I even did it with only rock installed and it still forced a restore.

Go sell your snake oil somewhere else.

"Bricked" Means Dead, not able to be restored... You cant brick it until it can be restored, thats not bricked, thats called it needs to be restored...

Bricked is like DEAD, someone isnt Dead untill they can be fixed, they are dead and cant be fixed, if they can be then they are not dead.

All this bickering makes me long for the days when Installer was the only, well, installer out there. :p

I'm glad installer is out of the picture, they weren't without issue either. Closed source code, slow as a snail to update their program. They had some spats where they yanked people off of installer for whatever reason and it became a public fight. I was worried when cydia first came out they'd block them to as competition.

Do a little cheacking and see how many Dev-team members or high up respected programmers even use rock themselves. ;) I have seen tweets from Musclenerd saying it won't use it nor recommends it. that's good enough for me along with personal experiences. What other people do or choose is there business. :D

I avoid it after several bad experiences with Rock Extensions. That being said, Rock App by itself just to manage the MyWi license has been no problem whatsoever now that Rock Extensions doesn't get installed with it.

I have RockApp on my phone with no ill consequences. I would NEVER download a program that brought in RockExtensions as a dependency!

I avoid it because it filled my iPhone with around eight gigs of junk data last time I used it, and did the same thing to a friend. Sure, that issue was eventually fixed, but not before they ****ed up my phone, and from what I've heard they've caused a lot worse in the past. I have no reason to trust them again.

Loving all the drama in this topic, by the way.

Everybody treats having to install Rock like a horrible punishment!
I don't see what's wrong with it...

Great thread. I for one LOVE Rock. Never had ANY issues with it whatsoever.

So you're saying that Rock just went ahead and installed 8GB worth of "junk", (whatever that is?), on your phone without your knowledge or permission?

Nerd Rage. It's not all "free software" FYI. I *think* these forums are for us to discuss such subjects. So if it continues to give you an aneurysm to read, why even reply to the thread? Just saying.

Pretty much. It was more than that for the friend I mentioned. I read somewhere that it was cache files or something, can't remember.

For example, Rock blocked people from installing the free 3G unrestrictor, and directed users to their own paid "My3G"

Huh? I never experienced that issue and I've used Rock and 3G Unrestrictor since they were BOTH first available.
