When Apple is able to lower MSRP to $429-1599 (inflated adjusted for the future) and make it very comfortable to wear for 2+ hrs will this product ship 1/3rd billion units annually worldwide.

Apple ships quarter billion iPhones annually worldwide.

During the 2007 iPhone event Steve Jobs pointed to functions & devices the iPhone would replace namely:

- game consoles (PlayStation, Xbox & Nintendo)
- digital cameras (Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc)
- MP3 players (iPod, Zune, etc)
- PCs (Macs & Windows)
- Mobile Phones (Motorola, BlackBerry, Palm, Nokia, etc)

Over 16 years later

- Apple Makes More on Games than PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo + Activision + Windows COMBINED
- Digital camera units shipped dropped from a 2012 all time high back to year 1999 to 2000 low.
- iPods are dead
- PCs stagnated to shipping units equal to iPhone + iPad combined
- Motorola was bought by Google then sold, BlackBerry went into bankruptcy and was bought by a Chinese company, Palm got dismantled & sold, Nokia was bought by Microsoft, dismantled and sold back to the Fins

From 2007 to today our mobile Internet experience improved from 3G, 4G and now 5G. Within the same time period the Vision Pro would receive 6G, 7G and 8G by year 2040.

In 2007 broadband Internet was below 10Mbps at $50/month.

Fiber to the Home would likely be more than 10Gbps at $50/month by year 2040.

With the Vision Pro the keynote showed it replacing/supplementing

- iPhones
- Wearables
- iPads
- Macs
- Apple TV 4K
- Large 4K TVs
- Movie Theaters
- Travel
- Zoom

This is what people like you thought in 2007 before we saw iPhone 1.0. These are the sort of image that was at the top of every rumour article on sites like Macrumours.

People thought it would look and be interacted with like current phones.

You think the new glasses will look like current VR glasses.

This is what I tried to explain in the post you laugh-reacted at.

You take a lack of imagination, add 500 articles with mockups of the new XR glasses that are as off the mark as the iphone rumour images were, and it's natural that you think the way you do. 🤷‍♂️

apple ar concept 2 ornange

5 years after the iPhone came out a very unimaginative a mid 30s male friend of mine claimed how lousy it is to type on a touch screen. Physical keypads were better.

This was the year he was gifted a 2011 iPhone 4s that he kept in his cabinet a further 3 more years preferring to use a 2G phone with a physical keyboard. He was only forced to use his "new" iPhone when the Samsung had water damage.

The photo below was what was circulating online back in 2006 as what the rumored iPhone would look like.
