I am not really pre-judging anything but judging based on my experience with both groups. No one membership can be generalized to be 100% one way or another but my point is that there tends to be a greater number of people with a higher level of sophistication here than what I have come across in most PC situations.

I don't doubt that you meant no insult, but "higher level of sophistication" is another way of saying "a better class of people". Does this site have a different demographic of members? Undoubtedly, which probably accounts for this "sophistication" difference you're referring to. But I don't think that warrants coming here and saying, essentially "you people over here are way better than those people over there." That's a prejudicial way to look at it, however you slice it.

I think OP is correct, and is not trying to be sarcastic. I've seen stats showing Apple owners are more educated and at higher income levels. Apple products are on average more expensive than Win/PC products. Educated people are less wiliing to follow the MicroSoft crowd and tend to be more independent thinking (my opinion).

For all intensive purposes, I agree with you but I could care less.

This thread is already going great places, but there's nothing wrong with "I could care less" as people usually use it. It's idiomatic and an auto-antonym, big deal. People like to harp on it to feel 'correct' but that's simple pedantry and misunderstands how language works.

Here's some authority on the subject (actual linguists who do this for a living). Happy reading!

From Urban Dictionary:
"I could care less"
An expression that idiots use when they don't care about something or have no interest in something. What they really mean is "I couldn't care less".

Just quoting this to prove my point.

Just quoting this to prove my point in post #7.

If your point about ignorance is that people cite UrbanDictionary to shore up their misconceptions and actively disavow actual expertise then yes, point well made.

OP, clearly you haven't been on any other forums other than 4chan. The majority of them have 'smart' members.

I haven't been on these boards long but I have to say that uhh... I disagree with the OP if he/she/it isn't being sarcastic.

More education doesn't necessarily make someone smarter (and I say this as someone addicted to education). Also even if Apple users were somehow smarter than non-Apple users, that doesn't mean that those smart apple users would be using this message board.

Maybe if the OP only visits other message boards filled with 12 year old PC gamers.... then maybe I can understand the comment. Otherwise, I disagree.

Which is misguided I might add.

Some people actually need windows.

I have Linux, does that mean I is a bad-a** mo-fo, in-it brozzer from anozzer mozer, init, 'cause I'm a bird mozer ___, I'm a bird, I'm a bird mozer ___, I'm a bird, init, mate / bro / dude?

Everyone's taking this way to seriously; can I? (Well I am, and now that I've stared there's no stopping me. Whoo-ha-ha-ha-ha <evil laugh>)

I also use Windows sometimes. Does that mean I cannot grasp the fundamental way of assembling sentences? According to you, all Windows' users can't make "literary references", use "extensive vocabulary" or have a "higher education." Which is slightly stereotypical.

Actually the answer. Intelligence has a positive correlation with income. People with more income are simply more likely to buy macs.

LOLOLOLOL u spelled 'definately' wrong!!!:):apple:

Darn. Pwnd again, weather I new it or not.

Intellegence = higher education = better job = more money = money to spend on expensive things like Macs

For such a claim, it helps if you spell intelligence correctly :)

For all intensive purposes, I agree with you...
Haha! That one almost made me choke me to death.

...but I could care less.

Sorry bud, I have to go with the group who says that saying is just fine as is.

"I could care less" is in the same vein as "Yeah, right" or "Uh huh" or "Suuurrre". They mean the opposite because the speaker is being sarcastic. It's all in the voice inflection that doesn't come across very well online.

Cheers!
