AT&T HSPA+ enabled area - 4 bars reception.

People make the mistake of assuming that just because they say HSPA+, the network is able to handle the speeds -- doesn't work this way.

I cannot speak for others in their area, but my AT&T area has had the backhaul updated to fully support HSPA + and Verizon has no LTE and there 3G is dramatically slower.

However, you are correct not all HSPA + areas have had the backhaul updated, but in areas that have AT&T is a no brainer.

I average around 8 to 10mb download and 2 to 4mb up. The numbers in your post would be reflective of Verizon here.

I got it because when LTE isn't available AT&T HSPA+ network is faster than verizons 3G. I travel a lot and don't always have access to LTE so the AT&T network is more versatile in my opinion.

Huh?

Verizon iPad LTE model is gsm unlocked. It has access to AT&T HSPa plus network. This has been confirmed.

Verizon LTE iPad is actually the most friendly of all. You have access to Verizon LTe/CDMA.

You also have access to HSPA plus on AT&T.

So if you don't have access AT&T LTE it makes the Verizon LTE iPad the better choice.

I think a lot of people that have had iPhones forever just gravitate towards AT&T Because we have had the forever. I know that's my only excuse honestly.

I think the current lack of AT&T models is because of scaplers. At the Apple store I was at, six people at the front each bought two AT&T 64GB white models. That was the model I wanted and now couldn't. The Apple sales guy said that AT&T is unlocked for international use. The Verizon model can be used globally, but is locked to the local carrier Verizon choose.

Not true. The Verizon model is unlocked. The old version did not have a SIM card, so was locked to whoever Verizon had roaming agreements with, but the new one can be used on 3G networks anywhere.

Technically superior to, the AT&T model operates on two LTE frequencies (700 and 2100 MHz), while the Verizon only one (700 MHz). The AT&T model is therefore the desired model for scalpers supplying Asian markets.

Irrelevant as neither Verizon nor AT&T's bands are used outside North America. Canadian telecoms use AT&T's bands rather than Verizon's (note that Verizon's 700MHz spectrum doesn't overlap AT&T's) but I doubt that there is a huge black market there given that their release date matched ours and the price is virtually the same.

Some get better discounts on ATT plans and coverage is better where we use it. Could be lots of people have ATT iphones and simply want one carrier to deal with when paying.

I just wish my iPad bill would be on the same bill as our iPhones. I always have the 3G/4G service activated so its not like it would be a problem as far as I can see but what do I know.

Getting discounts on AT&T post paid iPad plans, being grandfathered into unlimited data or having native AT&T LTE are the only reason to go with AT&T.

Otherwise you can still access AT&T Hspa plus network on Verizon iPad since sim is unlocked an also access Verizon LTE network.

If u don't have access to AT&T LTE than Verizon iPad can get same Hspa speed with AT&T sim in it.

It was coverage for me. Verizon doesn't get coverage in the basements of my school campus but AT&T does. I think they have femtocells down there or something. That and I get AT&T LTE when I head back to the bay area.
