Short skinny folks look better on camera than normal sized folks. Close ups of their head look better as their head is bigger in proportion to their body and therefor more interesting. And the face is where most acting happens.

Get away from TV and Film and into in-person plays and musicals and there is more diversity in height. In fact in a play/musical/opera etc., sheer size simply helps you be more visible to the folks in the seats in the back.

Short kids tend to "act out" as soon as they find they are short, which is early in life. This can be a serious problem.

And the big head thing mentioned above is true. Evidently this is better photography-wise.

Politically, I always noticed how short Bush's people were. There were the regulars like Cheney, and every time he introduced a new person it was just confirmed. He wanted to be the tallest guy in the room, and he isn't a tall person.

Thing is, no one knows they're destined to be shorter than everyone else early in life. Most people don't have an indication of what their final height will be until they're about 16 or so, and even then, they could grow another inch or two before they're 18.

I know quite a few people who were absolute shrimps in middle and early high school, but ended up being taller than me right before we graduated.

Interesting

I've thought majority of the celebrities were actually tall! But, again celebrities that are short are made to look tall in the shows/movies. I heard long time ago that for big Hollywood stars like Tom Cruise, they make everything smaller to make him look taller. They would make the door frames shorter so that he looks taller. They would also film him w/ good angles, and have him wear heel inserts, to make him look as tall as the other actors.

It's something I've always wondered about. I am of course aware that there is also certain actors, singers and other famous people who are tall, but if you do a bit of googling on this topic or maybe meet some celebs in real life you will quickly notice that many, many actors and singers are extremely and unusually short.

I recently watched The Big Bang Theory and recognized two of the kids from Rosanne. I remember that they were short back than and John Godman, an average sized man, seemed tall compared to them. They didn't seem short in the show, because all their co-actors are tiny! Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) seems tall compared to the rest of the bunch and he isn't exactly tall in real life.

Scott Caan, Kanye West, Prince, Michael Jackson, Tom Cruise, Michael J. Fox, Natalie Herschlag, Danny DeVito, Scarlett Johannson, Elijah Wood, the list goes on and on. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Snoop Dogg seem like giants compared to other celebs and they are shorter than me and most other grown males I deal with in real life. I've been to LA many times and some friends of mine work in the industry. When I stand next to them they look like little children

Is Hollywood munchkinland or does fame stunt growth?
