No it's quite a common occurrance. People are shocked that they'd come out with a new iphone "so soon" despite a yearly refresh

Believe it or not some people are actually happy with what they own and aren't always obsessing over something in the future that they hope will fill that void inside of them.

Before anyone thinks I'm judging, I am not one of those people. :)

The iPhone has become the Mom and Grandma phone, most of the tech geeks have moved on to Android or WinMo7, so it is no surprise that nobody pays attention the the next release date, they have no focking clue, except the cool cats here at MacRumors.

A) i have no clue what your saying

B) you would have to be pretty stunded to not assuming a company selling cell phones would not have a new model every year

This doesn't surprise me anymore because my girlfriend is notorious for falling into this category. But that's for technology in general and not just iPhones. There are people that don't care about technology like we do. For example, my roommate wouldn't know the first thing about an iPhone release, but if you asked him anything about politics in other countries with relation to the US, he could talk for hours about that. It just depends what people spend their time reading.

you shouldn need to know anything about iphones to know you cant continue to make money if your not always releasing something newer?

Talking to the wife about upgrading my 3GS, you can just tell she's thinking "what the he'll does he need to upgrade for?"

In a lot of ways she's right, but I'm looking forward to a better camera and display.

That's a given, but every company has a different release cycle for their products. If you don't care about that kind of thing, then why would you pay attention to one company's update release schedule?

agreed i didnt read this OP post thinking the friend was surprised about the exact month of the cycle but more of a surprised that they would make "another" iphone

The answer to the OP's question is simple: most people do not give a ****. I'm not just referring to iPhones. The majority of people simply don't care about anything but food, sex, and what's on TV that night.
