The carriers at least required the phone to be shipped to the billing address associated with the account.

The shipping companies require either a signature or a signed release form to leave the phone at your house.

Even with the pre-signed release form available, some people may not want to leave a $650+ phone sitting on their doorstep all day unattended. Doubly so if it's something like an apartment or other close-quarters housing.

This is my reason. I'm working from home tomorrow. I tried to ship to work, no go, tried to get Fedex to hold for pickup, no go. We work from home whenever it snows too, not a big deal.

1. If they're being delivered, they're usually delivered while the person is at work. I'm pretty sure that Apple only lets you have it shipped to the contract billing address, unless you called them, had them change the address, and then had your order pushed back.

I don't think that's the case. At least I hope it isn't. My shipping notice shows my work address as the shipping address just as I specified.

Which carrier do you use and where'd you order from? When I ordered my AT&T model from Apple, the 'Edit shipping' box is greyed out. Still is.

If your shipment notification shows your work address, you don't have anything to worry about.

because we bought the damn phone, and are excited about it because we use the **** out of our smart phones, and we want to see how this one stacks up. If you truly didn't give a ****, as you are acting, you wouldn't be here in the forums searching for additional information about it.

I had the same issue (otherwise my preorder went without a hitch. The shipping address was showing an address that I had lived at a few months back when I ordered my last phone from AT&T. The change address button was grayed out so I went ahead and placed the order, waited until the next morning and went through the Apple Store app and changed it in the actual order.

AT&T is my carrier and I ordered through Apple.

I always laugh when I see posts like the OP. The same could be said about anything..."why do people spend $1000 on superbowl tickets?" "why do people go to football games when it's 5 degrees outside?" "why do people go to movies at midnight for the premiere?"

It's because they want to. End of story.

Being a fan of a team is one thing. Being a fan of a phone that will likely be obsolete in a year is another.

Let's be real, it's about showing it off for everyone waiting in line.
