^ Yep exactly.... First party games will probably be the ones that push each hardware to the limits. Was the same last gen, so can't see any reason why it would be different with this.

:)

I agree, I am also glad someone else caught the joke in Praxis's post. Although I will say I was rather amused how many people took it serious.

First a thread about how people are becoming indifferent to online gaming and now a thread about how the XBox and PS3 are more or less the same?!??

Plus, the discourse is fairly civil (at least among the people that can detect sarcasm)... what the heck is going on here?

OMG!! You do realise GFLPraxis post was meant to be humorous right ? Sometimes I wonder if people have had a sense of humor bypass surgery :)

Aw man, people were believing it! You went and spoiled it! :D

But seriously though, I contradicted myself in each and every sentence.

That software has a special hardware function called Ebkac that enables real-time NURBS and raytracing through advanced box-modelling techniques.

Ebkac...NURBS through box-modelling...hehe.

You know, I'm actually worried that with so many people taking my post seriously, it's going to get quoted and passed around the internet.

man i just wanted to post "you can bet on it that it's already on IGN" and did a google search for some keywords (NURBS box modelling 360 ...) and blam there it was right on spot nr 2.: yourself doing it ;)

Yay another flamebait debate about PS3 and 360!

Anyway, I think we're reaching a point where graphics will look "the same", and what it comes down to is how developers optimize how it runs on each platform, such as framerate, etc. One day, when graphics look "real", how could we tell the difference between which is better? :p

Indeed. I would argue that the graphics on the Enterprise D's holodeck is pretty much indiscernible from the graphics on Voyager's holodeck...inspite of the Voyager holodeck having smaller and more efficient components.

Heh heh. Yep, we're getting to a certain point where the difference in the graphic capabilities of same-gen systems becomes less and less discernible...just as the difference from previous-gen systems and next-gen systems is becoming less dramatic. .....until we get to the pinnacle point of game systems where there is absolutely no difference in the graphics capabilities between any system (which will be when we have Star Trek-like holodecks).

Yes, I am obviously a geek....

The PS3s and Xbox 360s are still not being used to their "true" potential.
In the end, I like the PS3 a little bit more than Xbox 360 and I think a "true" PS3 game will look better than a "true" Xbox 360 game.

True game? what are the others? fake games?

Consoles are already being used to their potential, sure there will be better looking games in the future but they'll still look the same (between each console) and none will hold a candle to PC games.

In the end, you should purchase a console because of it's games, their hardware is so poor anyway (if you want the best graphics just get a PC) that games is what it's all about, sadly, developers and gamers alike have seemed to forget that.

These flamewars are ridiculous, the PS3 and 360 are roughly the same, it all comes down whether you want to play Mass Effect and Halo or Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted.

Here are a few reasons why I bought the PS3 over the 360.

1. Built in Power bar
2. Built in Blue ray drive perfect for me home theater
3. No monthly fee for online gaming and downloading
4. No Fee for extra Batteries for the controller, just plug in and recharge
5. PS3 is very quite the 360 is noisy
6. Sleek Design
7. If I put it in the center of the room it acts like a dust catcher.

Cheers
Gary

I think you're one of the most cunning trolls we've had ;)

5 MONTHS LATER AND YOU START AT IT AGAIN ?:eek:

For the sanity of all here...... Let This Thread Die!!!

HAHA! Nobody's really taken the grain of salt I left on the plate a while back huh? I just can't wait til the day where graphics are so real, that you won't be able to even justify which console has the better graphics, be it Xbox1080 vs PS5. :p

And if there are silly threads like these during those times, I'll just call you a true fanboy.

Seeing as how the graphics are at a staredown right now, I'm just gonna have to go with PS3, because I can have just as much fun online for free, as someone with the same game for Xbox, only they have to pay for online.

And it's not like I can't afford it, I just think that I shouldn't have to pay for something if it's an option. :p

^
That's kind of a moot point actually. A few months ago some Australian guys did some power usage tests and found out that, due to the PS3's higher power usage, after not so long it costs the same as paying for Xbox Live (annually of course).
I suppose if you played a PS3 online a lot then it'll cost more than the Xbox Live annual subscription price ;)
Just that its the power company getting your moolah not the big S.

Comparisons aside, Im just truly suprised Gears of War, a game that came out less than a year after the 360 launched, is still one of the (if not the) best looking games out there. That's much different from last generation games which lost their "polish" quite quick.

I don't think there's been much improvement of graphics since the start of this generation, and I don't think we'll see much in the future.

When games like Uncharted, MGS4, HS, UT3 are the start then the future looks bright for games and hardware.

I'm I the only one that notice the add to the bottom of this page....is that boobs I see?
