I've loved technology, and especially computer-related technology since I was a kid. But I do have a sense that technology can be used against us.

Tech toys are fun. Doesn't matter if it is that new 5 inch B&W portable 30 years ago or the new iPhone 5 30 days from now.

DRM, Red Light cameras, location based cell phone tracking, pagers, etc., etc. All seem to help government and large corporations. There are arguments for this positive or that convenience but overall in the big picture don't these things hinder us more than help us?

The "I have nothing to hide" statement also means "I have nothing to track".

Who says technology isn't already working against us?

In the same big picture how does the mac app store actually help developers? Does it give free application support? Does it provide updates as soon as they are available? Can a developer feature their software on the front page of the app store? Does it allow a customer to merge existing applications purchased from other sources by entering a serial number?

...Lion only being available from the Mac App Store is a case of Apple trying to force people to use the store, which I resist. That means you can't buy Lion without giving Apple credit card and personal information, as opposed to walking in a store and paying cash for it...

1. Take cash to store.
2. Buy 30 bucks worth of iTunes cards.
3. ??????
4. Install Lion without giving up your info.
