Mainly because I'm too lazy to learn how to use something else at this point? I've been using an iPhone for 6-7 years and have always found the software very intuitive and user friendly. I'm extremely comfortable with how everything works and any complaints I do ever have are so minor that I'd never consider switching to something else. Anytime I borrow a friend or co-worker's android for a few minutes I want to throw it against the wall in a rage because nothing is where it should be!

That alone is enough to keep me with Apple. Add their customer service and build quailty of the device (I know some people will laugh at that given some recent issues but I *personally* have never had any build defects out of the 5 iPhones that I've owned) and I can't see myself ever going anywhere else. Apple would need to MAJORLY eff up for me to leave!

1. More often than not, it works, and works better than the colleagues I have using (and complaining, and asking me to help fix) their Android devices.

2. When it really doesn't work, I can have someone at an Apple store fix it, quickly.

That's really what it boils down to. Android is nice and has gotten better over the years, but there are still lots of pain points I see with usability. iOS isn't perfect either; it's gained features and with the added complexity there have been bugs and issues here and there. But none of them have been show stoppers, at least in my case, and definitely not enough to entice me to switch.

I love Apple stuff because of the design. I take my wife into Apple Store at Bluewater and she doesn't get why so I explained that she likes going in to "Laura Ashley" or "The White Company" to look at their stuff and i'm doing the same.

The fact that their stuff works great is a bonus.

One thing that does annoy me is how I always seem to defend Apple. Its not intentional but If I over here work colleagues saying something incorrect about Apple and using that argument as a reason to be put off by them I have to wade in.

Then I end up looking like some sort of apologist. Can't help it though :D

Not really loyal to any company, switched to android before and was disappointed. Now that iPhones come in 5.5" size, my reason for switching was gone.

Another vote for the ecosystem. It's like a spiders web, once you've been caught, it won't let go. I admit, the software has gone slightly downhill and I mean ever so slightly but it's still mountains above Android in terms of usability, fragmentation etc.

Also apps, iOS always get the best apps first. Look at Alto's Adventure. Available in February 2015 for iOS and yet to be released on Android. Another example is The Room. The original was released on Android a YEAR later!

Started with the first iPhone which was my first Apple product that I actually owned. By the time Android came around and was running decent, I had already had a good bit of money invested in apps. If it wasn't for having to spend more money to get the same apps and games over again I might have switched by now.

I have no loyalty to Apple.

In fact, I make it a point to stay away from the junk ecosystem and nasty tie-ins, because it's a ploy to get people constrained to Apple hardware purchases. I refuse to use iTunes (junk) or even iMessage. I only use apps available on multiple platforms.

I use an iPhone because when I bought the phone, Apple was the only vendor with a track record of timely software updates and patches. Most Android handset makers abandoned their phones after a year and left them riddled with security holes, which is unforgivable. I have no love for Apple, and no love for its competitors either.

I'd switch to any brand in a heart beat if Apple doesn't give me the best solution. My Mac Pro will be my last desktop Mac because Apple doesn't make fully upgradable desktop machines anymore. But I'm happy to stay with the iPhone for now as the competition is no better even if they are great too.

I'm not any longer.
iPhone since the 3 and they have been for the most part great devices I can rely on.
iPad since the original and they have become the consumptive device of choice.

Sadly, iOS since 7.0 has become a mess and we as users cannot in general rely on a solid version until well into the current version's lifespan. If not for the fact my iPhone was a work device, I would use my Note 5 for all my smartphone needs. I have started looking for a replacement (non-iOS) for my iPad too.

It was great. It is no longer. The Apple iDevice.

I've been using Macs forever. Then added ipads. I only recently swapped my flip phone for an iphone, and I'm still not totally sold on it. The fact that the iphone works with my Apple stuff is great, but I want a smaller phone than what Apple currently offers.

I think it comes down to a few things for me.

1. I have never been let down by an apple product. My iDevices have always worked and has gotten me through the day without a problem. I've never gotten a bad device either or needed to return one.

2. The way they work together. I find it amazing that I can send and receive texts on my iPad that I get through my iPhone. Also when I get a new iDevice my music and apps are all ready to be downloaded.

3. Great customer service.

Those are the major ones :)

PC's and PC software being crap in film production for the longest time. Which led to schools and production companies primarily using Apple, FCP, and the Adobe Mac Suite for workflows. Now that the PC and its software has finally upped its game, I'm already too far in the Apple ecosystem. Not to mention, most of the time their products look better than the competish.

Can you please elaborate as to why this is poor research? Primary netnography is a valid method of research, and supplies a knowledge gap within pre-existent apple consumer research.

It's a great idea to come here for research! When you're all done with your paper I do hope you share what your findings are :) good luck!

Consistency, ease of use. Easier to communicate/share with the less techy of the world (i.e.. Family, wife ect.) since they all use iOS.
Btw I'm a convert of only 2 months and plan to stick around.

I have been using Apple products since 1985 and have always found them to be better products than any non-Apple product I've been forced to use due to any employers I've had along the way. So my list of whys would be:

1. Reliability. Past performance predicts future performance and lowers the risk of investing my money in more. Combine with bad experiences with other brands.
2. Ease of use
3. Excellent customer service experiences
4. Ecosystem that makes all my devices become greater than if they were on their own
5. Investment in 3rd-party items that are Apple-specific
6. Macs are my industry's standard (graphic design/video playback for live events)
7. Aesthetics. Apple products simply look better and are more high end and that reflects on me in a small way.

More than just iPhones:
8. Versatility. With Bootcamp, I can do anything a Windows-based computer can do as well.

And not for nothing, Apple is an American company and I like supporting American companies over non-American when I can. Spare me all the "but they....". Apple is still more American than Samsung.

What concerns the researh. In some cases it is done in a certain environment for predetermined reason(s). The OP's goal is unequivocal taking into account the usual practice and latest trends.
Now, for the question.
I prefer the iPhone because of its overall user experience (incl. quality, reliability etc.). Though, I have a Mac as well, I don't care about the so called eco-system. Had been using Windows for decades and got fed up, turned to OS X.
Good luck with the research, OP!
