So you are saying Apple would rather leave the MacBook Pro's update so people pay $499 for the base iPad, instead of $1199+ for a MacBook Pro?

No, it's called not releasing all your products at once so you can have them likely to buy both.

As much as it would be awesome for Apple to release an iPhone update, an iPod update, new MBP and iPad all in the same month, they won't do it to maximize their profits.

And how does that = no Arrandale update until next year? I can understand 1-2 months on either side, but 9+? Really?

Well in that case isn't an iPad more similar to an iPhone rather than an MBP?

Going by the same logic, no iPhone updates this year too?

And I own my own Firefly.

And have several employees that live with me.

What does that prove?

Doesn't really prove anything. I was just letting the poster know I'm not a 16 year old that's pissed that my parents got me an HP.

Stop acting like a know-it-all monkey because you're only proving your ignorance to everyone. Being stupid and childish is one thing but you're going too far. Stop wasting people's time.

Leave my thread then, there are hundreds of threads out there that are not "wasting everyone's time". No one's forcing you to be here, and don't let the door hit you on your way out.

An iPhone is a phone.
An iPod is a music device.
A Macbook is a computer.
An iPad is a computer.

BEFORE you claim "but the iPad is not a computer! It's just an internet browser, eBook reader, etc." realize in the eyes of a consumer it is ESSENTIALLY (note the emphasis) a computer. Smaller, less engaging, but a computer none-the-less.

You guys are really having trouble understanding this concept?

See, it's not really your thread. You just started it. You don't own it (although I'm sure you could buy it many times over:rolleyes:). Once you submitted it, it became the forum's thread. If you don't like the fact that people are disagreeing with you, that's too bad. Put them on your ignore list.

This isn't a soapbox in the park; it's a place for discussion and disagreement.

If the poster is so offended at this thread, why is it my fault if keeps looking at it and complaining about it? I guess he's like the guy that watches Bill O'Reilly every day, always complaining about he hates the guy.

The amount of calls censorship in this thread is also a little frightening, as I showed up at the Vatican claiming Jesus wasn't real and am confronted by an angry mob that wants to burn me at the stake.

Chill out people. If you don't like something you see, do the responsible thing and move on.

The iPad is not a computer. It doesn't work the same way, You interact with it in a completely different manner, and its software behaves differently. You can call it an appliance if you will, but it certainly ain't a "computer".

There is a reason why Apple didn't call it a Mactouch or a MacTablet.

So you can do the same things on an iPad as you can do on an MBP?
And I don't mean just email, surfing and all the other things.

Show me I can use the iPad with complicated software to calculate the molecular density of a brain cell or write my own software to right click with my nose.

Show it to us, and we fill follow your cult.

I said in the eyes of a consumer.. There's a study somewhere (I'll see if I can find it) that pretty much states 95% of users only use the computer to browse the internet, watch videos, send emails, and listen to music. Uh oh! If the iPad can do everything a computer does for 95% of the population, is it wrong for them to assume it's a computer?

Yes: because it doesn't run a full version of OSX.

The iPad (and even the iPhone) is still a computer, even though it may be limited in function.

Wrong, you can't say in the consumer's eyes the iPad is a computer. Neither can I say that in the consumer's eyes the iPad is more like an iPhone. Simply because it has not been released yet, no one would know what is the outcome. What (I feel) many of use are arguing about is that we don't deny the possibility of iPad affecting MBP sales and yet you are here asserting it will definitely affect MBP sales, despite not having any proof, we did not have any proof either, but at the same time, we don't go around saying Arrandale will definitely be released in 2010.

We can look at probabilities and I think many of us think that there is a significantly higher chance of an Arrandale update (or a non-Arrandale update of similar magnitude) in 2010 than in 2011.

So what's an iPod touch then ha matey? What can you do on an ipad that you can't do on an ipad?

Why is it so hard for YOU to understand the iPhone os (note an emphasis in the iPhone part) is also on te ipad?

So the ipad is closer to a mac which runs the mac os, then ANOTHER multi-touch, iPhone os based device like iPhone/iPod touch?

Please explain, since all you say is facts

The screen is too small and it's difficult to input the data. I could probably chill on the couch with an iPad for hours just like I can with a MBP, but interacting on an iPhone gets really difficult for more than a few minutes.

95%? Are you sure it's not 99.99%?

Do you even know what a computer, a regular one, not a custom built one they use at labs and other specific locations, can be used for?

So only 5% of all consumers use their computer for non-browsing activities?

Can you show me that study?

Yes, I agree to this, but I don't go around saying that Arrandale MBPs will definitely affect iPad sales or vice versa, and that was what I was arguing against.

I know, I wasn't arguing against your point, just expanding it slightly.
